Red Sea

5.0/5

Red Sea is located between northeastern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, and the Egyptian coastal city of Hurghada is the gateway to experiencing the scenery of this sea area. The water here is a deep blue-green with high transparency. Looking down from a boat, the underwater coral reefs are clearly visible. The sprawling coastline, fine soft sand, and year-round abundant sunshine make this small coastal city a well-known resort destination along the Red Sea, where days spent reading, relaxing, and sunbathing are quite pleasant. However, the real highlight of this sea area is underwater. The coral reefs are colorful, with tropical fish like clownfish and stingrays swimming among the rocks, and if you are lucky, you might even encounter wild dolphins. You can take a boat out to Giftun Island and Orange Bay: Giftun Island is a protected marine park where white sandy beaches coexist with surrounding coral reefs, and the waters around Orange Bay are shallow and clear, making it a favorite among snorkeling enthusiasts. Visitors who can swim can experience snorkeling or even scuba diving, while those who cannot swim can ride a semi-submarine to enjoy the underwater world through large portholes. Most boat itineraries depart from the Hurghada marina and usually include a few snorkeling stops. A quick reminder: encountering dolphins depends on luck, so don't force it. The Red Sea is located on the edge of the desert with intense sunlight, so be sure to apply sunscreen before heading out and wear a life jacket when entering the water for a safer experience.Egypt · Hurghada

Dead Sea

6.1
4.7/5
244 reviews
The Dead Sea is located at the intersection of Israel, Jordan, and Palestine, a long, narrow saltwater lake nestled between the Judean Desert and the surrounding mountains. The lake's salinity is far higher than that of ordinary seawater, making it difficult for fish and other aquatic life to survive. Only a small amount of algae and microorganisms remain in the lake, and no vegetation grows along the shore, which is how it earned the straightforward and vivid name Dead Sea. There are no tides here, and the lake surface remains calm year-round. Under the sunlight, it resembles a bronze mirror, reflecting the surrounding desolate mountains and deserts, presenting a bleak landscape rarely seen elsewhere. The surface of the Dead Sea is more than 400 m below sea level, and the lakeshore is the lowest point on Earth's exposed land, earning it the nickname "the navel of the world." The extremely high salt content provides buoyancy far exceeding that of ordinary seawater. As long as you relax your body, you can float on your back; even if you can't swim, you don't have to worry about sinking, and you can even lie on the water holding a newspaper to pass the time. The black mineral mud deposited at the bottom of the lake is also a local feature. Many tourists cover themselves in the black mud before floating in the water for a while, which is an iconic Dead Sea experience. The southwest lakeshore on the Israel side is home to many beaches and bathing areas, making it very convenient to experience floating. In the surrounding desert area, you can also participate in adventure activities such as jeep tours, camel riding, and rappelling.Israel · Dead Sea Region

Old City

Old City is a walled ancient city in the heart of Jerusalem. Covering less than 1 square kilometer, it is a place with a high concentration of holy sites for Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The Old City is traditionally divided into 4 different quarters, each with a distinct atmosphere: the Jewish Quarter has tidy streets and preserves the ruins of the Cardo from the Roman-Byzantine period; in the Christian Quarter, the Way of the Cross - Via Dolorosa, which extends from the Lion's Gate to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, connects 14 stations. The final stations are located within the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which is believed to be the site of Jesus' crucifixion and burial and welcomes pilgrims from all over the world year-round; in the bustling area, the market streets extending inward from the Damascus Gate are lined with stalls selling spices, sweets, olive wood carvings, and more; the Armenian Quarter is much quieter, where painted ceramic workshops are a long-standing traditional craft. The Temple Mount, located on a high platform in the southeast of the Old City, stands apart from the 4 quarters. The golden-domed Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque are both located within this compound. The golden dome is particularly striking in the sunlight and is a highly recognizable landmark on the Old City's skyline; the Western Wall on the west side of the compound is a holy site for Jewish prayer, where many visitors tuck notes with their wishes into the cracks of the stones. The Old City is best explored on foot, with many cobblestone paths, steps, and slopes. When entering religious sites such as churches and mosques, please ensure your shoulders and knees are covered; early mornings and evenings have fewer crowds and softer light, making it easier to avoid the rush and capture beautiful photos.Israel · Jerusalem

Old City

Jaffa Old City, located south of Tel Aviv on the Mediterranean coast, is an ancient city with thousands of years of history and a landmark of Tel Aviv. The Bible mentions that the timber used to build the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem was transported from here. Looking south from the Tel Aviv seaside, you'll see small hills surrounded by houses, topped with a clock tower – that's Jaffa Old City. The Old City is now mostly home to artists' residences, studios, and art shops. It has also become a symbol of the 12 zodiac signs, with fountains named after each sign, alleyways named after them, and wishing bridges for each sign. It's said that if you find your sign's relief on the bridge, gently touch it, face the sea, and make a wish, it will come true. Unfortunately, the wishing bridges are now closed due to disrepair. Wander through the intricate alleyways, along the cobblestone streets that record a thousand years of history, finding your own alleyway. Don't worry about getting lost; every corner holds a surprise. Perhaps you'll even find that orange tree hanging from a large rock somewhere. In the heart of the Old City is a square with a visitor center where you can get a free map of Jaffa. Below the visitor center is a small museum showcasing the city's history through artifacts and a 4D film. From the hilltop overlooking the Old City, you can enjoy stunning views of Tel Aviv and the Mediterranean Sea. Adjacent to Jaffa's Old City stands the 100-year-old Turkish Clock Tower. The Old City lies along the ancient harbor, now mostly filled with private yachts. Every morning, many people gather at the harbor to await the fishermen's freshest catch. Along the harbor are several seafood restaurants and some free art galleries—explore them; you're sure to find something delightful.Israel · Tel Aviv

It is one of Israel's most important historical sites and was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2001. Bringing children to the science museum is a great experience. All interactive exhibits are open and there are no extra charges. The volunteer guides are incredibly patient with children, even squatting down to explain the principles behind the exhibits. Many exhibits allow children to operate them themselves, and they can learn a lot of scientific knowledge in just one afternoon. The museum has comfortable air conditioning and plenty of rest areas where children can sit when they get tired. It's cheaper than amusement parks and offers educational value, making it far better value than those trendy, Instagram-worthy amusement parks that are only for taking photos.

The gelato here is what got me. Creamy, not too sweet, perfect for a hot Tel Aviv afternoon. The market itself is pretty organized, easy to wander through without feeling overwhelmed. Lots of food stalls, both local and international stuff. Prices are a bit high though, you pay for the vibe I guess. Still, the fresh juice and that gelato made it worth stopping by.

Masada is a holy place for Jews and one of the United Nations World Heritage Sites. It is located on a rocky mountaintop at the junction of the Judean Desert and the Dead Sea Valley, about 25 kilometers north of Ein Gedi. The cliff on the east side is about 450 meters high, and it goes straight down from the top of the mountain to the shore of the Dead Sea; the cliff on the west side is about 100 meters high. The top of the mountain is flat and diamond-shaped, about 600 meters long from north to south, about 300 meters wide from east to west, and the surrounding wall is about 1,400 meters long. The natural roads leading to Masada are extremely steep, and the most important one is the "Snake Path" on the east side.
