Wachau Cultural Landscape is a section of the Danube River valley stretching approx. 30 km between Melk and Krems, preserving traces of human settlement and cultivation since prehistoric times. Thanks to its beautiful scenery, it has become a popular tourist destination. The terraced vineyards and apricot orchards lining both banks continue a cultivation tradition that has lasted for thousands of years. Taking a cruise downstream from Melk to Krems is a classic way to explore this valley, where ancient towns, monasteries, castle ruins, and vineyards unfold slowly along the river. Those who prefer a slower pace can also cycle or hike along the river.Enjoying the beautiful scenery while tasting local white wine is a delightful experience.Rossatz · 9.8 km from Krems an der Donau

Located approx. 15 km northeast of Krems an der Donau, Castle Grafenegg sits in a 32-hectare landscape park. Today, this castle is considered one of the most magnificent buildings in the Romantic Historicism style in Austria, with the historic parts of the castle dating back to the 15th century. In the mid-17th century, the then-owner of the castle, Johann Baptist Verda von Verdenberg, converted the castle-like building into a fortified castle. So-called wall houses were built at the four corners of this complex and have survived to this day. In the mid-19th century, it acquired its current Romantic Historicism style. After World War II, during the occupation from 1945–1955, the castle structure was severely damaged by the Russian occupying forces, and furniture and part of the collection were stolen or burned. Since 1967, the castle has been renovated and opened to the public. Today, most of the important rooms in the four wings of the castle are open to visitors. The highlight of the castle is the Knight's Hall, which was built using the most precious materials of the time. The fireplace, coffered ceiling, and precious coats of arms and glass windows all showcase the castle's rich and long history. Castle Grafenegg is a popular filming location for international movies and fairy tale films.Haitzendorf · 10.7 km from Krems an der Donau

I started strolling around Vienna with my friends, holding a camera and walking aimlessly on the Ringstrasse. I saw Vienna's cleanliness, art, classicism, modernity, creativity, casualness, and exquisiteness. Each of them is extreme, but there is no contradiction. What I liked most were the windows of Gentleman's Street. The shops are so thoughtful, and you can tell at a glance that they pursue quality and beauty.

Durnstein Castle is located on the top of a mountain next to the town of Durnstein. Its history can be traced back a thousand years. It is most famous for imprisoning the defeated British King Charles I. The road to the top of the mountain is not easy to walk, and it takes about half an hour. The view from the top is very good and you can overlook the Danube.

The boat stopped at a small town, and we still had a free trip on land. Because it was a mountain road, we didn't choose a bicycle. I saw up close how German cars can achieve the functions of trucks, and I was very impressed.

It's a five-minute walk from the U1 subway station to the entrance. My reservation was for 10:00 AM, but I didn't get in until around 10:05. It's more like a palace than a museum; the moment I entered, I was amazed. It was an Egyptian exhibition, or rather, a European art exhibition. Luckily, I had a translator with me, so I listened as I walked, and used a dictionary app to look up background information. I finally gained a deeper understanding of the various European paintings. Some depicted traditional Gospel themes, others wealthy ladies, and still others important historical moments. Conversely, there weren't many landscape paintings. However, the Gospel themes did offer a profound understanding of the foundations of European culture: freedom, love, and faith.
