Lancelin Sand Dunes
Lancelin Sand Dunes are one of the largest white sand dune systems in Western Australia, stretching for approx. 2 km. Located just inland from the coastal town of Lancelin, they can be reached in approx. 1.5 hours by a self-drive trip north from Perth. The entire dune system is composed of pure, fine quartz sand. On sunny days, the slopes are dazzlingly white, resembling a silver ocean spread between the desert and the ocean. The sand ridges constantly shift with the wind, their shapes and positions always changing, and they can reach heights of tens of meters. Sandboarding is the signature activity here; hop on a sandboard and zoom down steep slopes of approx. 45 degrees for a thrill of speed and weightlessness. You can also ride a 4WD vehicle to traverse the sand ridges, or ride a quad bike or dirt bike through the valleys. Climb to the top for panoramic views of the town of Lancelin, surrounding farmland, rolling sand dunes, and the Indian Ocean coastline. Caversham Wildlife Park
Caversham Wildlife Park is located in Whiteman Park on the northern outskirts of Perth, an interactive wildlife park featuring native Australian animals such as koalas, kangaroos, wombats, possums, Tasmanian devils and quokkas. Its signature experience is the open kangaroo and wallaby activity area, where visitors can walk in and interact with kangaroos face-to-face, gently stroking their backs. Hand-feeding kangaroos is also a long-standing interactive activity in the park, with specific availability subject to on-site arrangements for the day. Koalas are the stars of the park. During multiple daily meet-and-greets, koalas perch on waist- or shoulder-height branches, allowing visitors to take photos freely with their own phones. For those who wish to hold a koala for a photo, spots are limited each day and require on-site registration at the park on a first-come, first-served basis. During peak season, these spots are often snapped up early in the day, so it's best to plan ahead if you want the experience. Additionally, you can see the ever-smiling quokkas and rare Tasmanian devils without having to travel to remote islands. The wombat meet-and-greet is also worth making time for, allowing close observation of these round little creatures and photo opportunities with them. The farm show features activities like sheep shearing, cow milking and sheepdog herding, with audience members invited to feed lambs - particularly popular with family-friendly travelers. The daily scheduled little penguin feeding is quite popular too, followed immediately by pelican feeding. Lizards and snakes in the reptile house can be examined in detail through display windows. White Desert. There are small hills all around. Everyone has a board ready to slide down from the top. But be careful. Try to get there early. The board rental car will be collected around 4 o'clock.

We had a wonderful family day out at Caversham Wildlife Park! Getting up close to feed the free-roaming kangaroos and meeting the koalas and wombats was an unforgettable experience. The staff are super friendly and passionate, and the interactive farm show is an absolute must-watch. Great value for a 3-to-4-hour trip!
