Things to do in Linzhou

Part of the representative canyons of the Southern Taihang Mountains, it boasts both the grandeur of towering red cliffs and the charm of Peach Blossom Valley with its streams, pools, and waterfalls, offering a perfect blend of mountains and water. The Peach Blossom Valley trails are gentle and shady, making it cool in summer and ideal for leisurely walks with middle school students. The Taihang Sky Road, situated on a cliff ridge, offers expansive views overlooking the surrounding mountains, perfect for taking photos. Wangxiangyan is known for its thrilling mountain climbing, with its towering ladders and cliffside walkways, suitable for those who enjoy hiking and adventure. In short: it's well worth the trip for the natural beauty of the Taihang Mountains; the scenery alone justifies the price. However, it gets very crowded during peak season, so don't expect a smooth and hassle-free experience. A leisurely two-day trip is recommended, and it's a great option to combine it with the Red Flag Canal and Guoliang Village on a Southern Taihang loop tour.

Having learned about the Red Flag Canal, I deeply admire the older generation who painstakingly carved and carried the canal by hand, much like a modern-day Yu Gong (a legendary figure who moved mountains), benefiting the local community. The scenery at the scenic area is rather ordinary; if you don't consider the historical significance of its manual construction, it feels somewhat unremarkable. Furthermore, the memorial hall and the Youth Cave are bundled together for sale, and the two attractions are quite far apart, with no shuttle bus provided. I suggest this place be designated as a patriotic education base and opened to the public free of charge.

The sightseeing buses arranged by the scenic area were excellent, and the connections between each stop were seamless, making for a very comfortable experience! Climbing to the highest viewing platform offers a breathtaking and awe-inspiring panoramic view of the Grand Canyon. A 5A scenic area, highly recommended!

We took the kids to climb the Red Flag Canal. The scenic area is very large. We walked along the narrow paths and saw the One-Line Sky and the Twin Dragon Cave. The scenery was very beautiful, and there were very few people. Most people took the cable car or walked the flat path below. The Youth Cave was crowded, so we didn't take a boat tour. We spent the whole morning at the Red Flag Canal and didn't even have time to see the memorial hall. The kids were exhausted. It's definitely a great place for kids to learn and have fun.

The Taihang Mountains, like the backbone of North China, are a majestic sight, spanning three provinces. Their majestic and precipitous peaks, dotted with cliffs and deep valleys, reveal a true manifestation of nature's workmanship. This region is not only a geographical demarcation but also a historical stage, bearing the memory of the perseverance of "Yugong moving the mountains" and the flames of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Lush forests crisscross the mountains, offering a changing landscape each season, from spring blossoms to autumn fruits, creating a natural masterpiece. The Taihang Mountains blend natural splendor with the strength of Chinese culture, a towering monument to the Chinese spirit.

There were no peach blossoms in Taohua Valley. The staff said that the peach blossoms would only bloom in the caves during the coldest days of winter. We went there on May Day, so there would be no peach blossoms. But it didn't affect our mood for fun. Taohua Valley is one of the scenic spots in Taihang Grand Canyon. The battery cars inside are so awesome. There were no large numbers of tourists waiting during the May Day holiday, which is difficult for ordinary scenic spots to do. The prices inside are also very affordable. In short, it is worth going during the May Day holiday. There is no such thing as a ready moment in life. The scenery was beautiful, truly deserving of its 5A scenic area rating. The all-inclusive ticket includes three attractions: Baquan Gorge, Qinglong Gorge, and Hongdou Gorge. Due to the cloudy and rainy afternoon, we didn't visit Hongdou Gorge, only Baquan Gorge and Qinglong Gorge. Route A is more reasonably designed and felt better than Route B, as there was no need to queue for the cable car. I plan to visit Hongdou Gorge again sometime.

This is a place worth visiting. The scenery is stunning, especially at night. I recommend staying here at night. My only regret was that I was unable to visit the hanging wall due to weather.

In 1975, the Red Flag Canal Memorial Pavilion was built at the diversion gate of the Red Flag Canal main canal hub project. It was expanded in 2000 and later renamed the Red Flag Canal Memorial Hall. The new hall opened on May 1, 2014.
