Fortaleza de Valenca
Fortaleza de Valenca is a well-preserved star-shaped fortress, located on the banks of the Minho River, overlooking the Galicia region of Spain. The fortress dates back to the 13th century and was built by order of King Afonso III of Portugal to defend against foreign invasions. The existing fortress structures were mainly built in the 17th century, and its design draws on the star-shaped defensive system of the French military engineer Vauban, reflecting the advanced military engineering technology of that time. The fortress consists of multiple bastions, walls, and moats, forming a solid defensive system. Today, visitors can stroll along the walls and enjoy the surrounding natural views and historical buildings.
