St. John's Signal Hill is the highest mountain here. There are many buildings on the whole mountain, including an ancient castle that was used as a beacon signal tower in ancient times. There are also cannons from more than 200 years ago in the castle, which shows that this place used to be a fortification. This is very rare in New Zealand and can be regarded as a historical monument.
