Tree of Tule

Tree of Tule

4.1
The Tree of Tule in Oaxaca, Mexico, is a giant tree that resembles a living fossil, allowing you to experience the power of time and nature. Located in the church courtyard in the center of the town of Santa María del Tule, it is a unique view where nature and culture intertwine. This tree is a Montezuma cypress. Locals cherish it deeply, as it has witnessed the changes of many generations. The twisted textures and knots on the trunk naturally form various shapes that people often compare to animals or mysterious patterns, such as lions, deer, and crocodiles. This offers visitors the joy of interpretation and imagination beyond simply admiring the tree. The village has an authentic atmosphere where you can experience local food, handicrafts, and community culture. Visitors can stroll under the tree's shade, take photos, listen to locals share legends and the tree's significance, and feel the harmony of coexistence between humans and nature.Santa Maria del Tule · 9.2 km from Oaxaca

El Llano

El Llano

4
El Llano is an important public park in the historic center of Oaxaca, Mexico, located in the northeastern part of the city, next to Benito Juárez Avenue and Pino Suárez Street. The park has long been a place for residents to relax and socialize, and it remains one of the centers of cultural life in Oaxaca. Its history dates back to the late 17th century, when the area was known as the Guadalupe plain and was adjacent to the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe. In the early 19th century, José María Morelos used it as a military training ground and built a fountain there. The park was later rebuilt and became the open green space it is today. It is surrounded by tall trees that provide ample shade, and it features four fountains of different sizes that enhance its scenic appeal. Whether for morning runs, walks, or participating in local cultural activities, El Llano is an ideal place to experience city life and culture in Oaxaca.Oaxaca · 970m from downtown

The reason why I chose Oaxaca, a relatively small city in Mexico, was mainly because I saw two attractions in a travelogue, one was Hierve el agua in the suburbs of Oaxaca, and the other was this church. The former was a little disappointing because of the wrong season and insufficient water. But this church and the museum next to it really made me feel that my trip to Oaxaca was worthwhile. The interior decoration of the church is very beautiful, especially the family tree above the door, which is very spectacular.
