The Kühler-Müller Museum is an art lover's paradise. The museum houses nearly 90 oil paintings and nearly 200 drawings by Van Gogh. There are as many as 40 pieces of Van Gogh's treasures in the exhibition hall, including "Cafe in the Night", "Aer's Suspension Bridge", "The Sower in the Sunset", "The Harvest", "The Potato Eater" and "Self-Portrait", etc. Several classic works. In addition to Van Gogh's paintings, the museum also houses masterpieces by Monet, Picasso, Mondrian, Gauguin, Renoir and other artists, among which the more classic is the "Composition of Red, Yellow and Blue" by the Dutch painter Mondrian. Another highlight of the museum is its outdoor sculpture garden. This is one of the largest sculpture gardens in Europe, covering an area of 25 hectares. Here you can see works by well-known sculptors such as Rodin, Donald Judd, Alberto Giacometti and many others. As many as 160 sculptures are scattered in every corner, each of which has ornamental value. For example, Rodin's sculpture "Squatting Woman", the woman's unnatural posture and facial expressions express intense pain, fear and despair. The museum is located in the beautiful Holland Hoveluwer National Park. Here you can appreciate the different natural features such as heathland, grassland, dunes, lakes, swamps and forests, and fully experience the natural treasures that nature has given to the Netherlands.Otterlo · 3 km from downtown

Apenheul
No. 13 of Family-friendly Attractions in Netherlands

Apenheul

4.3
Apenheul was established in 1971 and is one of the first zoos in the world to allow monkeys to roam freely among visitors in a woodland setting. The entire park is set within a forest with natural vegetation, featuring dense trees and paths winding through the woods. Visitors can walk along soft trails, listening to the crisp chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves, immersing themselves in the activity of the monkey troops. Apenheul houses a variety of primates, ranging from small bamboo monkeys and lemurs to large gibbons, chimpanzees, and orangutans. Most species of monkeys roam freely in the park. While they have their own habitats, they often appear alongside visitor paths or among the branches. This design significantly bridges the gap between humans and animals, bringing both the joy of exploration and a deep sense of closeness to nature. The facilities are also well-developed: the park features multiple dining spots and rest areas for visitors to take a break or have a meal while exploring, and there are also shops selling souvenirs.Apeldoorn · 16.1 km from Otterlo

The second-floor hall houses Van Gogh's works created between 1883 and 1889. • A large collection of well-known art treasures, including masterpieces by many well-known masters • Retaining the architectural style of the 19th century, the brick-red walls are all decorated with images of Dutch history and art • The vaulted roof of the renovated museum atrium hall is made of glass, and the floor is paved with Portuguese stone floor tiles. Natural light penetrates the entire hall, which is spacious and bright. △ The building where the museum is located was planned and designed by the designer of Amsterdam Railway Station. It was opened to the public in 1885 and is one of the oldest museums in Europe. △ Go up the escalator and enter the viewing corridor. The corridor is composed of arched brick walls and large floor-to-ceiling windows. You can enjoy the panoramic view of the atrium hall. The library on the same floor as the corridor is not to be missed. The history of the library can be traced back to the 19th century. The spiral staircase is very unique and is also known as one of the ten libraries with beautiful scenery in the world.Amsterdam · 67.1 km from Otterlo

The Saint Huber Hunting Lodge is located in the north of the Van Gogh Forest. It was built in 1914 and was commissioned by the architect Hendrik Petrus Bellach on behalf of the Keller-Miller couple. The hut takes its name from Holy Huber, patron saint of hunters. The cottage is surrounded by clear lake water and is very peaceful. The entire cottage consists of a tower in the center and wings that extend diagonally to both sides. The interior decoration is well preserved, showing the typical Bellach design and colorful glazed tiles.Hoenderloo · 4.7 km from Otterlo

I highly recommend visiting the Kröller-Müller Museum, which boasts the second-largest collection of Van Gogh paintings in the world, second only to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. It's less crowded, allowing you to quietly immerse yourself in Van Gogh's works.

Gorgeous Park! You can easily arrive by car or by public transport. Grab a free bike at the entrance and ride around freely for the entire day. The landscape is beautiful, the museum in the middle of the park is one of my favourites, and the restaurants is surprisingly delicious.

Overall, the place is interesting; it's my first experience with this kind of zoning. I was especially impressed by the butterfly zone—it was amazing! The oceanarium wasn't impressive. There are large tanks, but they only have a few fish. There's a tunnel, but the view is a bit cloudy, and there are mostly a few stingrays. There aren't many animals, and their areas seem comfortable, quite large. This is definitely a plus for the animals, but it's quite difficult for a person, and especially a child, to find and see them. For example, we didn't see any rhinos at all; the tiger was sitting in the bushes, and the lions were sleeping somewhere in the far corner, blending in with the sand.

One of the greatest museums of Dutch history. You feel like you travel through time. The museum is quite large, so allow yourself enough time to see it (at least 3-4 hours).

[Scenery] Great for taking photos [Fun] We wandered around the old town, and finally we left the old town and passed by the San Huber Hunting Lodge when we returned to our car. The afternoon sun provided perfect light for viewing the San Huber Hunting Lodge.
