Things to do in Pengshui County

The section from Wanzu to Gongtan Ancient Town boasts the best scenery in the Wujiang River basin and is one of the most attractive tourist attractions in Pengshui. Experience firsthand the breathtaking panorama of two mountains flanking a river, boats gliding on the water, and people traveling through a painting.

It's not far from the old county town; a taxi ride will cost around 9 yuan. In the afternoon, there are performances like "walking on knives and fire" and lion dances. Some spots are closed, such as the Miao King's Palace. The evening is a great time for taking photos. It's about a 2-hour and 20-minute drive from downtown Chongqing.

Pengshui Ayi River offers a fantastic experience! The canyon is picturesque with clear waters and lush greenery. The rafting trip is divided into gentle and rapid sections, allowing you to leisurely enjoy the scenery while experiencing the thrill of whitewater rafting – a truly exhilarating way to cool off. Along the way, you can also enjoy captivating Miao ethnic folk performances, with melodious Miao songs and dances creating a vibrant atmosphere and immersing you in the unique charm of the Miao region. The scenic area boasts comprehensive facilities, combining stunning natural scenery with cultural performances, making it suitable for both groups of friends and short trips – definitely worth a visit.

The Three Natural Bridges of Wulong are truly breathtaking, no wonder they're a World Natural Heritage site! Taking the sightseeing elevator down to the valley floor, you're instantly awestruck by the three giant natural stone bridges. Towering cliffs, deep canyons, babbling brooks, and lush greenery abound. The Tianfu Official Post Station is nestled beneath the bridges, exuding a martial arts atmosphere; every snapshot is a masterpiece. The trails are easy to walk on, clearly marked, and the canyon is exceptionally cool. Seeing it in person reveals the true grandeur of nature; its artistry is awe-inspiring. A must-see when visiting Chongqing, it's definitely worth a visit.

I don't quite understand why some people say it's not exciting, maybe it's because they came during the dry season. We played the last section today and it was so scary. The rapids were so strong that the boat was not controlled well and capsized. Fortunately, we arrived at the end smoothly with the help of the safety officer. I would like to praise a fat safety officer who saved us today. It was around 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Other safety officers saw that we capsized and didn't come to help. Only this fat guy came to help us in time. I wanted to praise him specifically for the scenic area management at the end, but I couldn't find a suitable place to report it after leaving the scenic area. I hope that this comment can be seen by the scenic area management.

The scenery is fantastic; the Three Natural Bridges and the Earth Fissures exceeded my expectations. It's definitely worth the trip from Chongqing. This trip is particularly suitable for families with elderly members and children, as the area is both interesting and generally suitable for leisurely strolls. I would definitely come again if I had the chance.

The average altitude is 1200m, and the highest peak is 1616m. There are natural landscapes such as stone forests, grasslands, virgin forests, and dangerous passes. You can watch the sunrise and sunset, the rolling clouds, and look for wild fruits. You can enjoy the snow in winter and escape the heat in summer.

The environment is indeed nice and quite unique, but you can see both attractions in about 4 hours, so the price of 260 is a bit too high, especially considering there's not much service inside the scenic area. Why is it so expensive?

The alpine meadows offer expansive views, the forests are refreshingly cool, and the breeze is incredibly soothing! Be sure to take the sightseeing train, which winds its way through the cedar forests to the vast grasslands, where cattle and sheep graze leisurely. The iconic wavy road is perfect for taking photos. No strenuous hiking is required; it's ideal for leisurely walks, relaxing, and taking pictures – a top choice for a getaway near Chongqing.
