Durmitor National Park
Durmitor National Park is located in northern Montenegro and is part of the limestone mountains of the Dinaric Alps. This mountain range was carved by glaciers and flowing water, with both surface rivers and underground rivers coexisting, and canyons and caves interspersed throughout. Dozens of peaks with an elevation of over 2,000 m rise from the alpine meadows and forests, among which Bobotov Kuk, with an elevation of over 2,500 m, is a popular route for mountaineering enthusiasts. The park also preserves vast old-growth European black pine forests, where trees hundreds of years old can grow to around 50 m. Various endemic plants grow in the forest, several of which are found only in this mountain region. Black Lake
Black Lake is located in Durmitor National Park in northern Montenegro. It is an alpine lake formed by glacial erosion, at an altitude of over 1,400 m, adjacent to the mountain town of Zabljak. Locals call this group of glacial lakes on the mountain the "Eyes of the Mountain," and Black Lake is one of the largest and most famous among them. Its name comes from the dense black pine forests surrounding it on all sides. Viewed from above, the dark forest sea embraces a pool of blue-green water, which is how the lake got its name. The lake is actually composed of two parts: the Big Lake and the Small Lake, connected in the middle by a narrow channel. When the water level drops in summer, the channel dries up, and the two bodies of water temporarily become separate sights. The small stone bridge spanning the channel has thus become a popular photo spot along the lake trail, and standing on the bridge, you can see both sides of the lake at once. When the wind is calm, the lake reflects the Bear Peak behind it, which stands at an altitude of over 2,000 m, accompanied by the dark pine reflections and the vibrant green water. Tara River Canyon
As part of Durmitor National Park, the Tara River Gorge is a part of the World Natural Heritage. The canyon is 1,300 meters deep, which is the deepest in Europe and the deepest in the world. It is one of the most famous attractions in Montenegro. Đurđevića Tara Bridge
Đurđevića Tara Bridge is located in northern Montenegro, spanning the Tara River Canyon, on the mountain road between Zabljak and Mojkovac. Construction of this road bridge began in the late 1930s and was completed in 1940. It is over 300 m long, with five concrete arches supporting a bridge deck that stands over 100 m above the river. Looking down from the bridge, you can see nearly vertical cliffs and the rushing Tara River beneath your feet. The deepest part of the Tara River Canyon exceeds 1 km, making it a famous deep gorge in the Balkan Peninsula with rugged terrain. Đurđevića Tara Bridge is also widely known because of a film: during World War II, to block the advance of Italian forces, partisans, with the help of an engineer, blew up one of the bridge's arches. The engineer was later captured and killed on the bridge. This story was adapted into the 1969 Yugoslav film "The Bridge." The film was widely popular in China at the time, and its theme song, "Bella Ciao," is still widely sung today. Žabljak
Zabljak is located in the north of Montenegro. It is the administrative center of the Žabljak Municipality and the highest town in the Balkan Peninsula, with an altitude of about 1,456 meters. The town is located in the heart of the Durmitor Mountains and is surrounded by the Durmitor National Park. It is an important mountain tourism center in Montenegro. I rented a car from Tivat Airport and drove for three and a half hours on a mountain road just to see the Tara River Valley Bridge - the famous Yugoslav World War II classic movie "The Bridge", a classic memory of a generation. Walking on the bridge, I seemed to hear a familiar melody in my ears - Ah, my friend, goodbye! Ah, my friend, goodbye~ goodbye~ goodbye...
