Things to do in Plitvicki Ljeskovac

Plitvice Lakes National Park, also known as the Sixteen Lakes, connects the Upper and Lower Lakes via a boardwalk. Water overflows from travertine dams, creating cascading waterfalls. The lake water's color changes with the sunlight, ranging from emerald green to deep blue. Fish swim in the crystal-clear water, visible even as they swim through fallen tree trunks. In autumn, fallen leaves float on the surface, mingling with the travertine deposits. The park offers numerous walking trails, taking at least four to five hours to complete. Park buses and ferries take visitors to different starting points, saving you some walking effort. There's a picnic area near the entrance where you can sit and eat your own food. Overall, it's the kind of place that encourages leisurely strolling.

Among the 12 lakes in the Upper Lakes, Lake Kozjak is located at the lowest point in the Upper Lakes. The altitude difference between it and the highest Lake Prošćansko is 100 meters. These two lakes are also the largest lakes in the entire Plitvice Lakes. Lake Kozjak is the center of the Plitvice Lakes. There are three small piers at both ends of it. It is the only lake in the Plitvice Lakes that can be used for cruise ships. Near Pier 1 and Pier 3 are catering service areas.
