From mid-May to November each year, the roses are in full bloom, which is truly stunning. The Portland Japanese Garden is a 5.5-acre traditional Japanese garden nestled in Washington Park. The garden was opened to the public in 1967. The Portland Garden combines Western forms and Japanese elements very well. Traditionally designed, gardens generally contain three elements representing the earth: stone represents mountains and islands, water represents center and purity, and plants represent color and growth. These themes are evident in the Portland Japanese Garden. The Japanese Garden focuses more on the sophistication and beauty of gardening. You can see redwood trees from the West Coast of the United States and plants with Japanese characteristics. Of course, you can see small waterfalls and water flowing between rocks everywhere. The Portland Japanese Garden is a masterpiece of Japanese gardens outside of Japan. It also holds some activities and cultural festivals every year, attracting more than 200,000 tourists almost every year.Portland · 2.5 km from downtown

Pioneer Court Plaza is named after the Pioneer Court opposite the courthouse. The square covers an area of more than 3,000 square meters, and the ground is covered with many eye-catching red bricks, which are engraved with the names of the people who helped to build and maintain the square. This comes from a project called "BuyaBrick". There are also many high-end shopping malls near the square, and since Portland is tax-free, shopping here is also a good option. It is located in downtown Portland, with all the shops extending along the square, which is a good place for shopping. There is also a pillar on the east side of the square marked with a circle of road signs. These road signs point to Portland's sister cities around the world and their distances. You can also see the name of Suzhou on it, which is very interesting. Usually there are many large-scale activities, such as music performances, marketing activities, etc., will be held here.Portland · 561m from downtown

Washington Park, Portland Washington Park, located in the suburbs of Portland, is a natural park built on hills with a history of more than 100 years. The park includes the Portland Zoo, the World Forestry Center, the Portland Children's Museum (established in 1946, located in the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI)), the Hoyt Arboretum (with a series of coast redwoods over 150 feet high, which were the first trees planted in the arboretum in 1931), the International Rose Test Garden (established in 1917, the oldest public rose test garden in the United States), and the Portland Japanese Garden (established in 1962 on the site of the former Washington Park Zoo, after which the zoo moved to its current location). In the warm sunshine of early spring, the flowers are charming, and it is really pleasant to spend a day here.

This is an important part of Portland's urban landscape and anyone interested in architecture or urban design should visit it. Yes, there are always some weird street people here, but it seemed very safe to me. Enjoy a picnic on the steps in front of the fountain, relax, read a book, or just take in the local atmosphere.

Amazing... Built in 1914, the Mansion is incredible, full of history of Portland's first families. The Oreganian newspaper publisher, together with his family helped transform Portland. It is really worth to visit.
