Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery is housed in Hobart's historic Commissariat building (built in 1808). The museum primarily showcases information regarding the Tasmanian Aboriginal people who disappeared due to British colonization, as well as culture from the early colonial period. A highlight of the museum is the specimen of the extinct Tasmanian tiger. Also known as the thylacine, the Tasmanian tiger has black stripes and, like the kangaroo, belongs to the marsupial family. The museum features a unique, collage-like architectural style resulting from repeated expansions. The original colonial-era building was completed in 1863, and it has undergone several expansions over the years. The museum entrance was completed in 1987 and is part of the overall structure.Hobart · 18.5 km from Richmond

Port Arthur is Australia's largest and most intact convict settlement, forming a key part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Australian Convict Sites. Discover iconic ruins, over 30 historic buildings, immersive house museums, compelling exhibitions, and guided tours complemented by a scenic harbour cruise and self-guided audio experience. Set within 146 hectares of spectacular landscape, heritage gardens, and walking trails, visitors can relax and enjoy breathtaking views, shop for locally-made products and savour local flavours in our cafés and at our acclaimed 1830 Restaurant & Bar. More than 300,000 people visit Port Arthur every year, but the now sunny port has a dark history. In 1930, Captain Governor George Arthur chose the Tasman Peninsula in south-east Tasmania to hold prisoners who had reoffended during the colonial period. The peninsula and the mainland are only connected by a land less than 100 meters wide (that is, the Eagle Neck Gorge). From 1830 to 1877, 12,500 prisoners spent hard sentences in Port Arthur. The Tourist Services Center is located in the Port Arthur Historic Site building. Downstairs is a gallery with detailed explanations, where visitors can learn about the suffering of prisoners in exile in Tasmania. You can also take a cruise around the Island of the Dead (Island of the Dead) in the harbour, and if you are interested, you can visit the island. This is a hugely popular excursion in Port Arthur, a 90-minute ghost tour with a guided tour of many of the old buildings and stories of some of the creepy events that have happened here. If interested, be sure to book before 16:00 on the day.Port Arthur · 57.1 km from Richmond

The Tasman Peninsula is located in the southeast of Hobart. Port Arthur is the main attraction. The island's coastline, beaches and bushwalks bring beautiful natural scenery. Enter the peninsula from the north through the Arthur highway, first reach the Eagle's Neck Gorge, turn east to Pirates BayDr, and arrive at the lookout with a view of the coastline. There are also sea erosion landforms such as checkerboard sidewalks, blowholes, Tasman Arches, and waterfall bays around Eagle Neck Gorge. Continue south to Tasman National Park, which occupies a large area of the peninsula, and you can choose one of several bush walks to hike. If you want to see animals, you can go to the Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park. If you want to see cultural attractions, you can go to the historical sites of coal mines, the prison sites of Eagle Neck Gorge, Cunha, Primedna, and Saltwater River. The terminus of Arthur Expressway is Port Arthur. From 1830 to 1877, a large number of prisoners who came to serve here made the gloomy atmosphere gather here, and the beautiful stone buildings, Gothic buildings and parks can hardly conceal the bitter history of the past. .Koonya · 49.1 km from Richmond

Traveling to Australia, this stop came to Hobart, the capital of Tasmania. Wandering around the city center, I came to this museum, which is located opposite the City Hall, near the pier. There is a parking lot at the door, which is very convenient, but it is charged. The museum is free to visit. When you enter, there are some open-air seats with artistic shapes on the right, where you can take a break. The locker area is in the front left. All guests who come to visit need to put their belongings in the locker. You need to prepare a 2-dollar Australian dollar coin. Open any empty cabinet. There is a small slot in the cabinet door where you can put coins. You can only put coins that are exactly the size of 2 yuan. Then close the cabinet door and remove the key. When you need to move something, insert the key, turn the door open, and the coin will automatically spit out for you. This museum has several sections, including the history and culture museum of the aboriginals, the specimen museum, the exquisite collection museum, the art gallery, the cafe, the lounge and other parts. Due to time constraints, I only visited the specimen museum and learned about the animals that are unique to Australia and even Tasmania. Of course, these are specimens, for example: the now extinct Tasmanian tiger, the Tasmanian tiger, the Tasmanian devil, kangaroos of various sizes, flying birds, etc. The decoration of the specimen museum is very simple, or it is deliberately made to be a little primitive, it feels like returning to the primitive society. The lighting in the lounge is dim, but it has that kind of British style decoration. There are clear instructions along the way, and you can look at the signs to find your favorite museum to visit.

It couldn't be more pleasant to take a boat around the island on a group day tour! The blue sky and blue sea, and you can see wombats. The local one-day tour only has English. We are the only foreigners. The others are all local Australian aunties and uncles. The sea breeze is still quite cold when the boat starts, but it's worth it for the beautiful scenery. Some local aunties did a lot of homework and introduced us to the rock types and formation ages along the coast.
