According to research, the top of the stage was once covered with a roof, but unfortunately it has been damaged. Exquisite acoustic design This ancient theater has a unique acoustic design, which can clearly transmit the sound effects on the stage to the auditorium without the aid of audio equipment. It is said that even a silver coin could be heard in the auditorium back then. To, such a skill can not help but admire the wisdom of the ancient Romans. Summer Music Festival Due to this extraordinary sound design, the Aspendos Theatre is still in use today, where the Antalya Opera and Arts Festival is held every summer, with audiences sitting on stone steps from 2,000 years ago Enjoy the sound effects. The ancient city of Pergai is located about 18 kilometers northeast of Antalya City. It was built in the 10th century BC and is a relatively well-preserved ancient city in Antalya Province. In the 2nd century BC, because this place was inland, protected from pirates, and irrigated by the Ax River, which led directly to the Mediterranean Sea, it flourished for a time and was an important city in Pamphylia (today's Mediterranean region) in Asia Minor. In 1946, the ancient city of Perge was discovered and archaeological excavations began. The Axe River used to be an important trade channel in Pergai, and its watershed is also a tourist hotspot with many historical sites. Pergay is hot and humid all year round, especially in summer. Tourists stroll through the monuments and often see lizards in the grass. It is a veritable outdoor adventure destination.Antalya · 22.5 km from Serik

Kaleici Old Town

118 reviews
Kaleici Old Town is located in the city center of Antalya and has a history of over 2,000 years. It has been ruled by various civilizations, including Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, the Byzantine Empire, the Seljuk Empire, and the Ottoman Empire, with its street layout and architectural style bearing the marks of these different civilizations. Hadrian's Gate is the iconic entrance to Kaleici Old Town, built to commemorate the visit of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. The three marble arches are flanked by towers, and the cobblestone pavement beneath the gate still clearly shows the ruts and hoof prints from ancient times. After passing through the gate, Ottoman-style stone houses with red roofs and white walls are scattered along the slopes, and narrow alleys wind upwards, with mosque domes and minarets visible from time to time. The Tekeli Mehmet Pasha Mosque in the district, built in the 17th century, features typical Ottoman architectural style; the clock tower with a pentagonal base stands on the ancient city walls, with its foundation dating back to the Byzantine period and the upper clock tower added later, making it one of the striking landmarks of Kaleici Old Town today. The Old Roman Harbor is located at the southern end of the district and was once an important maritime transport hub in the Eastern Mediterranean. Today, it is docked with yachts and fishing boats, and the azure harbor water and layers of red roofs form a classic scene of Antalya. The alleys in the northern part of the old town are perfect for a quiet stroll, where you can see old houses covered in vines and scattered craft shops along the way. Restaurants and cafes are densely distributed along the main street, where you can taste local flavors such as Mediterranean grilled fish, or browse shops for handicrafts like carpets and ceramics.Antalya · 35.5 km from Serik

Lower Duden Waterfalls

35 reviews
Lower Duden Waterfalls is located in Antalya, Türkiye. The Duden River flows through the city, leaving behind two waterfalls with distinct styles: the upper and lower sections. The Upper Duden Waterfalls are hidden in a forest park on the northeast side of the city. With dense pine shade, the river cascades down in layers within the park, and the lawns under the trees are a popular spot for locals to picnic and take walks. A famous experience here is behind the waterfall: a natural cave runs behind the water curtain. Visitors can walk into the cave and look out at the greenery through the cascading water, with mist hitting their faces, as if they were in a "water curtain cave." The Lower Duden Waterfalls offer a different scene. Located on the coastal cliffs in the Lara area, the river falls directly from the cliff edge, which is dozens of m high, into the Mediterranean Sea, creating a scene where the waterfall flows into the sea. The clifftop park has several viewing platforms where you can take photos overlooking the spot where the waterfall meets the blue sea. On sunny days, rainbows often appear between the mist and the waves. Sightseeing boats departing from Antalya harbor can sail to the front of the waterfall, allowing you to look up at the water crashing into the sea and the mist it kicks up. The scenery is especially moving at sunset.Antalya · 29.4 km from Serik

Side Ancient City

Side Ancient City is located on the Mediterranean coast of Antalya Province in southern Türkiye, with its ruins concentrated on a small peninsula extending into the sea. The ancient city was founded in the 7th century BC by Greek immigrants who crossed the sea, and "Side" means "pomegranate" in the local ancient language. Relying on its natural harbor, it became an important trading port in the Pamphylia region, successively experiencing the rule of the Lydians, Persians, Alexander the Great, and the Romans. During the Roman Empire, it was bustling with merchant ships and thriving commerce, and was once a hub for the Mediterranean slave trade. Legend has it that the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra and the Roman general Antony met here. Later, under the successive blows of Arab invasions, earthquakes, and fires, the ancient city gradually declined and was abandoned around the 10th century AD. Today, strolling around the peninsula, Roman-era ruins are visible almost everywhere: the large ancient theater built according to the terrain can accommodate tens of thousands of spectators; the Roman Great Baths have been converted into a site museum, displaying statues and sarcophagi unearthed from the ancient city; walking from the main city gate along the colonnaded street toward the sea, remnants of the grand market, fountain structures, and more follow the path, outlining the contours of the commercial district of that time. On the headland at the tip of the peninsula, the Apollon Temple and the Athena Temple stand side by side. Among them, the five re-erected giant marble columns face the sea. At sunset, the columns and the sea surface are dyed golden by the setting sun, which is an iconic photo spot of the ancient city.Manavgat · 30.9 km from Serik

Aspendos Theater near Antalya is impressive. One of the largest Roman ampitheaters in the world. Easist way to get here is to just arrange a taxi to take you there and back and wait a couple of hours. I imagine it would be super busy in summer, but in winter it was near deserted. We had the place to ourselves.

I don't know which illiterate person translated Perge as "佩尔盖"! Fucks, Turks don't understand, Europeans don't understand! A 3500-year-old ancient site, an authentic ruin! The entire city-state is incredibly well-organized! The main city's residential area, the adjacent sports field, and the amphitheater further away—each has its function, with towering round stone columns and archways! Exquisite stone carvings and murals, simply perfect! Absolutely stunning from a geometric and aesthetic perspective! The indentations in the stone slabs on the ground show signs of long-term activity! By the way, I also picked a bunch of cactus fruits nearby 😀

A high-quality dance show with a story. Watching it in an ancient amphitheater really adds to the experience. Be sure to bring something to sit on. Otherwise, it's a bit tight. It turns out not all the seats are available; there are some VIP seats with a better view, but it's unclear how to purchase them.

The classic ruins of the ancient Roman castle! Located in Antalya, Turkey, the remaining buildings have been baptized by the years. There are not many tourists coming here. You can walk freely in the ancient city and recall the prosperity of the ancient city in the past!
