Meeting of Waters lies 10 kilometers downstream from Manaus, where the dark waters of the Rio Negro meet the pale, yellowish Solimões River; only after merging do they officially form the main stem of the Amazon River. This stretch of water has become a popular attraction in the vicinity of Manaus. Viewed from downstream, the contrast is striking: the murky yellow Solimões on the left and the inky black Rio Negro on the right remain distinct, separated by a clear line that cleaves the broad expanse of water in two—like a watery fissure dividing two separate worlds. With a temperature difference of several degrees Celsius between the two rivers, navigating the area offers a vivid, firsthand experience of the contrasting conditions, serving as a compelling natural lesson in understanding the Amazon river system.Brazil · Careiro da Varzea

Amazon Theatreis located in the center of Manaus, the capital of the state of Amazonas, Brazil. The theater is built in a Renaissance style, and its facade creates a solemn and magnificent atmosphere with tall columns, exquisite reliefs, and a symmetrical architectural layout. The most striking feature is the colorful dome at the top, assembled from over 30,000 glazed ceramic tiles imported from Alsace, France. Its vibrant colors stand out brilliantly in the sunlight, making it a recognizable landmark of the theater. The interior of the theater is a feast of European craftsmanship and art. The structural steel came from Glasgow, United Kingdom; the stairs, statues, and columns are made of Carrara marble from Italy; the furniture blends elegant French style; and the chandeliers were imported from Italy, with dozens made of exquisite Murano glass. Upon entering the auditorium, you can look up and admire the ceiling painting created by Italian artist de Angelis, where delicate brushstrokes and ornate decorations combine to create an elegant artistic atmosphere.Brazil · Manaus

Indian Museum

Indian Museum officially opened on April 19, 1953, to celebrate American Indian Day, as part of the research division of SPI (Indian Protection Service). SPI was created by Marechal Rondon in 1910 and remained the agency responsible for assisting indigenous people until FUNAI was established in 1967. Indian Museum operated in the residence on Maracanã Mata Machado Street until it moved in 1978. This old building, which still exists today, was managed by the National Supply Company and the Ministry of Agriculture, and was later purchased by the Rio de Janeiro State government. The current residence is neoclassical in style, built in 1880 at the request of a businessman in the food industry. After the merchant's widow died, his children decided to sell the property to the federal government, and it was listed for sale in 1967.Brazil · Manaus

Kudzu vines, orchids, and bromeliads cling to the high branches, and monkeys, sloths, hummingbirds, macaws, giant butterflies, and countless bats live there. In the water live caimans, freshwater turtles, and aquatic mammals such as manatees and freshwater dolphins. On land live jaguars, slender-waisted cats, tapirs, capybaras, armadillos, and more. There are also 2,500 species of fish and more than 1,600 species of birds.

Eu costumava passear pela Praça São Sebastião e tomar tacacá. Uma excelente opção de passeio para conhecer a Manaus Belle Époque.
