Arima Onsen is a relatively old hot spring in the Kansai region, located in Arima Town, Kita Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. Arima Onsen, one of Japan's three largest hot springs, is a 1,300-year-old hot spring area that is said to have been built by Buddhist monks in the 8th century. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and maple trees in autumn. In addition to the famous hot springs, this place is quite popular with tourists. The water quality of Arima Onsen is rich in minerals, and it is divided into golden spring, silver spring, radium spring and carbonated spring according to different spring quality. In addition, because the spring quality of Arima Onsen is slightly salty, it is rumored that if an ancient samurai was injured, soaking in this area would make the wound easier to heal. Bathing here, the warm heat often mirrors the dense clouds and mists of the mountains outside. Today's hot spring area is a concentration of elegant hot spring hotels, and the quiet style is another charming style of Kobe.Kobe · 10.3 km from Takarazuka

Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

7.7
4.7/5
4.1k reviews
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan is a large aquarium themed around the Pacific Ocean, with a visiting route designed as a journey "from land to the ocean depths": visitors first pass through the tunnel-shaped "Aqua Gate" tank, watching tropical fish swim overhead; then take a long escalator directly to the top floor, starting from the "Japanese forest" tank bathed in sunlight, where stream creatures can be found amid waterfall sounds and lush greenery; then descend floor by floor along a spiral ramp, circling the central "Pacific Ocean" tank and passing through exhibits of the Tasman Sea, Great Barrier Reef, Japan Trench and other marine areas. The same tank reappears at different floors, offering distinct perspectives from above, at eye level and below—the entire walk feels like diving around the Pacific. The aquarium houses over 600 species and tens of thousands of marine creatures. Its centerpiece is the "Pacific Ocean" tank, approx. nine meters deep with over 5,000 tons of water, where iconic whale sharks glide gracefully alongside large rays flapping their "wings" and swirling schools of silver fish. The "Tasman Sea" tank showcases agile spotted dolphins with dynamic swimming postures. The "Arctic Circle" exhibit recreates both ice surface and subglacial seawater across two levels, with ringed seals darting near the ice edges. In the dimly lit "Moon Jelly Galaxy," pulsating jellyfish resemble floating star clusters, making it a popular photo spot. Plan at least half a day for your visit, as crowds mainly gather around the central large tank. When walking down the ramp, pay attention to the medium and small tanks on both sides - exhibits like penguins and sea lions are scattered along the route and can be easily missed if hurried. The aquarium also features a touch pool where you can feel the skin of sharks and rays, a particularly worthwhile experience for families with children. △ [Gate of water] is like a transparent underwater tunnel, unveiling a blue world before you. △ [Tasman Sea] The white-sided dolphins are swimming dynamically in this pool. △ [Pacific Ocean] This aquarium is home to many creatures, including confidently swimming whale sharks and gracefully flapping manta rays.Osaka · 17.3 km from Takarazuka

Katsuo-ji, originally named "Shōō-ji TempleLater, because in Japanese the characters for "king" and "tail" are homophones, this name gradually became popular. Many people come here to seek the luck of "victory." It is also an ideal place to view autumn foliage. With a history of 1,300 years, this temple has been visited by powerful figures throughout the ages, including the Minamoto and Ashikaga clans. Even today, people from around the world come here to pray for success in health, career, exams, sports, and love. The numerous "kachi daruma" (victory daruma) displayed on the offering shelves are placed by devotees who return to express gratitude after achieving their goals. The concept of "victory" at Katsuo-ji is not about defeating others but about overcoming oneself. By making wishes to the kachi daruma, facing one's inner self, and overcoming personal weaknesses through self-improvement and perseverance, one's wishes can be fulfilled.Minoh · 14 km from Takarazuka

It's great. This hot spring combines gold, silver, and carbonated baths; you can choose whichever you want. They give you a bag with a towel and bath towel when you enter, which you can return after use. The price is a bit high, but it's worth it because it offers more options than just soaking in the gold or silver baths individually. If you want to soak in either of those separately, you can choose separately.

Besides the real spring water, it felt like a bathhouse in China during the summer, albeit with a more elaborate process. First, change into a bathhouse outfit, then shower, then put on your bathhouse outfit to change into your own clothes before leaving. No rest required, and the same process continued. I was given a key box twice. The cashier was quite quick. The food was reasonably priced.

Довольно неплохая смотровая площадка с интересной архитектурой. Будьте готовы к очередям в предзакатное/ закатное время и к тому, что выход из здания занимает даже больше времени, чем вход в эти часы. В целом довольны посещением.

Huge aquarium with helpful staff and is easy to navigate. The ticket prices were fair, and the array of creatures featured here was diverse; the whale sharks stole the show. The aquarium does get quite crowded around weekends and the holidays, so definitely plan in advance. This place should take about 2-3 hours to walk through. Overall the scenery was beautiful and the area it’s in is excellent for food and walking around.

There aren't many tourists, so it's recommended to reach the top an hour before sunset so you can get a good shot of the sunset. The rooftop has full glass windows so you can see Osaka Castle from afar. You can also buy a drink and find a seat indoors to slowly experience the sky garden.
