Atatürk Pavilion

4.2
In Trabzon, a city of magnificent beauty and rich history, the Atatürk Pavilion is hidden in the forest. The Atatürk Pavilion originated as an inn. After the founding of the Turkish Republic, Atatürk visited Trabzon and was warmly welcomed by the locals. He stayed at the Soguksu Lodge. Built in 1913, the four-story lodge with a basement was home to Atatürk. The large room on the third floor served as Atatürk's bedroom. Later, the privately managed lodge was purchased by the Trabzon Municipality and presented to Atatürk as a gift. The people of Trabzon took great pride in naming it "Atatürk Pavilion." During his visit to Trabzon, Atatürk dedicated the building to the people of Trabzon and, under the witness of a notary, donated all its possessions to the state treasury. After Atatürk's death, the Trabzon Municipality opened the Atatürk Pavilion to the public as a museum showcasing Atatürk's belongings and photographs. The entrance to the villa displays the complete speech Atatürk gave upon his first arrival in Trabzon. Besides the dining room, the rooms display photographs of Atatürk during his visits, along with his former armchairs and sofas. The third floor houses a bedroom, bathroom, attendant's quarters, and study. Today, the villa and its spacious gardens are one of Trabzon's most beautiful houses and are open to visitors as the Atatürk Museum, managed by the Trabzon Municipality.Trabzon · 3 km from downtown
