Cadbury World of Chocolate is one of Birmingham's larger leisure tourist attractions, where you can learn about the history of the Cadbury Company, relive classic Cadbury commercials from decades past, and even visit the chocolate production line to see how it's made. In the pavilion, you can also see artworks made of chocolate, such as high heels, crowns, animal models, etc., which are very delicate and have the feeling of "Charlie's Chocolate Factory". It is especially suitable for bringing children to play here. You can take a very interesting chocolate tunnel tour bus and watch 4D movies. There are often chocolate delivery sessions along the way, you can eat while playing, and you will also receive a cup of fresh hot chocolate before the end of the tour.Birmingham · 31.1 km from Worcester District

Shakespeare's Birthplace

Stratford-upon-Avon, 180km west of London, is where the playwright Shakespeare was born and died. Shakespeare's Birthplace (also known as Shakespeare's House) is located on the north side of Henry Street in the town. It is a two-storey residence with a loft. It has a quaint half-timbered structure, a sloped tile roof, an exterior wall of primary earth color, and windows that protrude outside the wall. And the portico make this 16th century old house special among the surrounding buildings. It is now a popular attraction in the UK and is visited by many tourists. Walking into this old house, you will see furniture that is completely in accordance with Shakespeare's life, and the walls are decorated with exquisite paintings. Shakespeare was born here and spent his childhood and adolescence here. The former residence displays Shakespeare's handwriting, coins of the year, IOUs from friends who borrowed money from Shakespeare and other items. The cradle where he slept as a child can be seen in the bedroom where he was born. The house also houses a workshop by Shakespeare's father, John. When visiting, I often encounter actors performing in the house such as "Hamlet" and other bridges, which is very interesting. Behind the house is a beautiful small garden, and sometimes there are open-air theater performances. The actors' exaggerated language, expressions, and actions are exactly the style of Shakespeare's plays. Because you can only buy a combined ticket, you can also visit Hall's Croft, Nash's House & New Place, and Shakespeare's Grave after seeing Shakespeare's birthplace. These three places are relatively close to Shakespeare's birthplace, just walk there. Hall's House was the residence of Shakespeare's daughter Susannah and her husband, Dr. Hall, and was a mansion at the time. Nash's House is the home of Shakespeare's granddaughter and husband Nash. There is a new house next door that Shakespeare bought, and it is also the place where he wrote "The Tempest" and other later works and died. And Shakespeare's grave is also in the town. If you have enough time, you can also buy a five-house pass (ShakespeareFiveHousePass), you can visit two more attractions. One is Anne Hathaway's Cottage, the home of Shakespeare's wife, which is especially beautiful in the summer. The second is Mary Arden's Farm, the home of Shakespeare's mother, which is still in operation. These two places are 10-20 minutes' drive from Shakespeare's birthplace, and you can take a sightseeing bus to go there. In addition to visiting several former residences related to Shakespeare, you can also stroll around the town at will, the scenery is good, and there are Shakespeare elements everywhere. There are plenty of cafés, restaurants and souvenir shops in town, and it's nice to sit down for a coffee, a bite to eat or send a postcard.Stratford-upon-Avon · 33.5 km from Worcester District

The British Museum

The British Museum is one of the largest and most renowned museums in the world. The British Museum houses over 8 million cultural relics and treasures from around the globe, with its vast quantity and diversity of collections being rare among museums worldwide. Rich collection of treasures Due to its vast collection, The British Museum can nearly showcase the entire course of world civilization. Despite spatial limitations, it still displays approx. 50,000 items simultaneously. The main collections date from the medieval period, with particular renown for ancient Egyptian and Greco-Roman artifacts, alongside a wealth of precious cultural relics from Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas. Many cultural treasures from around the world can only be seen in their authentic form here. Ancient Greek-style main building The main building emulates ancient Greek architecture, featuring a grand entrance with a tall colonnade flanked by eight thick and towering Roman-style columns on each side, topped by a pediment roof adorned with reliefs. Entering through the main door leads to the great court, which is connected to over 100 galleries of various sizes surrounding it. Inspired by the Louvre Pyramid, the great court is bright, spacious, and elegantly minimalist. Bright central atrium The great court was originally part of the British Library. After the library moved out, it was transformed into a covered square with a white color scheme. The square's massive semi-transparent roof is composed of many uniquely shaped glass panels, combined with white stone, ensuring excellent lighting even on gloomy days in London. The sculptures displayed in the court are genuine treasures, such as the marble lion and Easter Island statues. Additionally, artists from around the world occasionally perform here, adding a relaxed atmosphere to the solemn museum. At the center of the grand atrium is the reading room, displaying art literature and books open to the public, where travelers can admire the dome and quaint circular bookshelves up close. The entrance of the reading room is marked with the names of notable figures to commemorate their time spent reading here. Cafés and restaurants are located on both sides and above the grand atrium, offering dining options with a view overlooking the entire space. Along the outer edge of the reading room lies the museum shop, where visitors can purchase souvenirs after their tour. Three iconic treasures The Rosetta Stone: Originally from Egypt, this stone bears three different script versions of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh's decree. Through comparing these scripts, archaeologists gradually unlocked the key to deciphering ancient Egyptian civilization. However, the Rosetta Stone displayed at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is a replica. Admonitions scroll: The scroll consists of 12 paintings in total, with The British Museum housing 9 Tang dynasty replica versions. The Admonitions scroll ranks 39th in BBC's "A History of the World in 100 Objects," highlighting its immense cultural and historical value. Throughout history, the scroll has been collected by numerous emperors and high-ranking officials. The Elgin Marbles: These are sculptural fragments from the Parthenon, with a history of over 2,500 years. They have been housed in the museum for over 200 years since the British royal family purchased them at great expense. Specialty exhibition halls Asian pavilions: Halls 33 and 95. Hall 33 features artifacts from China, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, including collections from countries like India. Hall 33B is dedicated to Chinese jade artifacts, while Hall 95 showcases Chinese ceramics. The British Museum is one of the museums with the largest collections of lost Chinese artifacts, housing over 25,000 pieces, with approx. 2,000 on long-term display. The exhibition is meticulously designed, organizing Shang and Zhou dynasty bronzes along a chronological sequence, displaying artifacts from the Shang and Zhou, Qin and Han, to the Republican era. The major kilns of porcelain are divided into different curated sections by Ru, Ge, Jun, Ding, and Guan styles, presented professionally and systematically. Recommended artifacts to admire include large Tang tri-color ceramics, the Song Cizhou kiln "circus pillow," the Yuan blue-and-white fish and algae pattern large plate, Ming Xuande cloisonné, and Dunhuang mural Buddha statues. Ancient Egypt exhibition hall: halls 4, 61-66. One of the popular spots in the museum. The exhibits include mummies. The ancient Egypt hall is also one of the most visited exhibition halls, and almost all visitors to The British Museum make it a must-see. Ancient Greek and Roman galleries: rooms 11-23, 69-73, 77, 78, 82-85. The entire Parthenon is truly awe-inspiring, along with numerous ancient Greek marble sculptures and exquisite artifacts like vases. Don't miss the Portland Vase in room 70. Some exhibits are not suitable for long-term display and are only open during specific periods each year (including the mentioned Admonitions scroll). It was a great experience! We went on a Saturday, and there was a slight queue, but we only waited about five minutes to get in. Inside, you can learn about the history of chocolate, the origins of coffee beans, the chocolate production process, and some interesting facts. Several parts were particularly fun. First, there was a movie about Cadbury's history and development. You went into one theater and watched the movie before moving on to the next. Next was a 4D movie where you experienced the world of chocolate with glasses. Finally, you rode in a toy car and used a laser gun to fight monsters. Another attractive part was the tour of the chocolate-making process, where you could even try it yourself. The free tasting included three different toppings to add to the chocolate sauce – very delicious! The shopping area at the end was also nice. Oh, and they gave out a few free chocolates at the entrance, which my child loved. It was a truly great experience! 😊😊😊

This is quite a meaningful place, especially if you like Shakespeare. Shakespeare was a wealthy second-generation official in his early life, but his family fell on hard times, leading him to seek a living in London, where he rose to fame.

Great place to go for a family day out. A first part is done by car, with the opportunity to see lions, hypos,… second part is done by foot. Only thing that I found negative is that there were not as much animals as before on the car part. We used to drive through giraffs and zebras,…

The British Museum was definitely a highlight of my London trip. It was well worth spending a whole afternoon there, and I feel like I'd go back again! A special thank you to my guide today, Diana; she was professional, reliable, and her explanations were engaging, patient, and entertaining, adding a wonderful surprise to my museum visit.
