Wuyuan Huangling Scenic Area

Wuyuan Xiangao City Scenic Area
Xian Gao City is located in the county seat area of Wuyuan County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. It is named after Xian Gao Town, the ancient county seat of Wuyuan. Xian Gao Town boasts a unique topography, nestled against mountains and surrounded by water, lush and verdant, situated at a high vantage point. It is a treasure trove of "a hall of mountains and water" in traditional Huizhou culture, and a new immersive cultural and commercial tourism landmark in Wuyuan, integrating Huizhou culture, landscape aesthetics, and modern creative experiences. The Xian Gao City project is divided into two parts: Phase I, the open-air cultural and tourism street of Xihutang, and Phase II, the enclosed core scenic area. Dazhangshan Wolong Valley
Dazhangshan Wolong Valley is located in northern Wuyuan, a pristine forest canyon attraction with fresh air. Its main highlights are the cascading waterfalls and crystal-clear streams, making it an ideal summer retreat. At the entrance of the attraction stands a massive boulder inscribed with Jin Yong's calligraphy: "Dazhangshan Wolong Valley." The hiking route is straightforward—just one uphill path following the stream through the valley. With gentle slopes, it's an easy and pleasant walk. Along the way, you'll pass scenic spots like Wolong Pond, the suspension bridge, Qidie Spring, Water Curtain Falls, and Konghou Bridge. Take your time to pause, play in the streams, admire the cascading waterfalls, and capture the breathtaking scenery with your camera. Near the mountaintop stands the Konghou Suspension Bridge, spanning over 50 meters in length and 30 meters in height. Crossing this bridge offers an exhilarating experience for nervous visitors. After traversing the bridge and a wooden boardwalk, you'll reach the summit where the spectacular Bailong Waterfall plunges over 100 meters, creating a breathtaking sight. The entire ascent takes about 1 hour or more, or around 2 hours if you take it slow. You can descend via the same route, with the round-trip hike totaling approximately 3–4 hours. If you prefer not to walk, the attraction offers a round-trip cable car, with a one-way ride taking about 15 min. I thought it would be less crowded on a weekday, especially since it's the off-season, but it was still packed with people. The blue sky and colorful autumn harvest decorations made for a beautiful scene. The parking lots at Wangxian Valley and Huangling were both large and free, which was very convenient for tourists. However, the ticket prices were a bit expensive.

It was a last minute change of itinerary to Likeng Ancient Village / Scenic Area - but it was seamless change because everything could be done online.We booked the train tickets to & fro from Shangrao to Wuyuan and the admission tickets all through Trip.com; very convenient indeed.If you love photography, then Likeng offers you abundant of beautiful & scenic shots, worthy of your time strolling fir many good shooting spots - you would love it here!!We had a good time strolling the ancient village and capturing few memories there too."🤗🤗🤗

The combination of cable car up, sightseeing bus, and hiking down is perfect. Taking advantage of the off-peak season before the end of the holiday and late October allows you to perfectly avoid the crowds. The Huanglong colorful forest has already quietly revealed its beauty, and the vibrant colors of the pools are extraordinary, making it well worth a visit.

Xiangao City is definitely worth a visit. The ancient Hui-style architecture and intangible cultural heritage performances are all worth checking out. You can earn silver coins through interactive activities, which can be redeemed for gifts. It was my first time seeing live stilt walking, and it was absolutely amazing! The stilt walkers were all young people, including some women—kudos to them!

Like other attractions, it doesn't feel like a 5A-level scenic spot. The visitor center is quite far away, even though you can drive right up to the entrance. The scenic area is large but lacks any distinctive features. It's very commercialized, but the food is poor; there are very few restaurants, and it's hard to find a place to rest or have coffee.

Before heading to Huangshan, I stopped in Wuyuan, and Wolong Valley was a good warm-up. The natural environment was quite nice. This was my second time here. Last time, during the rainy season, the water volume was plentiful, but I didn't have time to see the whole thing. This time, I had more time, but the scenery was much less impressive due to the dry season. The Big Dragon Waterfall was practically dry, even smaller than the Small Dragon Waterfall. The streams were very clear, and there were many people playing in the water. It's a good place to enjoy water activities, cleanse your lungs, and reconnect with nature. Don't expect too much from the waterfalls during the dry season.

I originally wanted to go to Huangling to see the rapeseed flowers, but it was raining and I was in a hurry, so I changed my plans and went to Jiangling instead. The car could drive right in, and I just took a quick photo and headed back. The scenery was still very beautiful.
