High-speed rail links Xining and Chengdu: 3-day, 2-night weekend travel plan
Depart from Xining, and instead of being a hurried passerby, take a leisurely stroll and immerse yourself in the daily life of this city.
🚝🚄Travel preparation
Transportation: Book a high-speed rail ticket from Xining to Chengdu East in advance. After arriving at Chengdu East, if you have a lot of luggage, taking a taxi to the hotel will be more convenient; if you want to experience Chengdu's public transportation, the subway is also a good choice, convenient and affordable.
Accommodation: Hotels or homestays around Chunxi Road business district are the first choice, where not only is the transportation convenient, but also the surrounding shopping malls, supermarkets, and restaurants are all available.
Arrive in Chengdu - Find food on Chunxi Road
After a little tidying up, head to Chunxi Road. There are many street food stalls and restaurants. Considering the elderly and children, first choose some light and delicious snacks, such as Long Chaoshou, with thin skin and large filling, and delicious soup! Of course, you can also have a spicy rabbit head for yourself who loves spicy food, and start your food journey in Chengdu in advance.
Chengdu Museum
Morning: Go to Chengdu Museum, where the rich collection fully presents the historical changes of Chengdu. The plateau exhibition area is especially friendly to us tourists from Xining. It is worth mentioning that there is also an area dedicated to hot pot, which tells the story of the origin and development of hot pot in detail through pictures, text, and physical displays.
Spend 2-3 hours with your children and let them gain knowledge in the ocean of history and culture.
Afternoon: After a tiring walk, find a teahouse nearby and sit down. Order a pot of fragrant tea and some Bobo chicken, and enjoy the food while experiencing a leisurely afternoon in Chengdu.
Wide and Narrow Alley - Experience Sichuan Opera
Morning: Although it is full of commercial atmosphere and constant hawking, if you calm down, you can still feel the leisure of Wide Alley, the tranquility of Narrow Alley, and the bustle of Well Alley. Find a teahouse, order a cup of covered-bowl tea, and immerse yourself in the slow life of Chengdu.
Afternoon: There are many teahouses in Wide and Narrow Alley with Sichuan Opera face-changing performances. After experiencing it, we found that the performance here is too fast, and the commercial atmosphere is strong. Before finishing a cup of tea, the performance is over, and then we are urged to leave by the merchant, which is not a good experience. However, watching the hand shadow and face-changing performances up close is still very shocking, and the children watched it intently. So I sincerely suggest that friends who want to appreciate Sichuan Opera go to a regular theater to watch it, where you can better appreciate the charm of Sichuan Opera culture.
Free food hunting - Enjoy a slow life
No specific attractions are arranged on this day, just stroll around the streets and alleys of Chengdu at will. When you are hungry, find a restaurant nearby to eat, and don't deliberately look for popular restaurants according to the strategy. We just walked and stopped like this, but we discovered a lot of delicious food hidden in the alleys, such as sauce rabbit head, food stall barbecue, hot pot, Bobo chicken, Chongqing noodles, etc. These heavy-tasting foods are very suitable for the taste of people in the northwest. And avoid queuing and crowding, and the store service is more enthusiastic and thoughtful.
PS: We went to see the Giant Panda Base, and the experience was extremely poor. You can check my previous strategy.
A highly recommended museum to visit. As a national museum, it not only boasts a vast collection of artifacts but also offers unique services and a variety of charming cultural and creative products. Volunteer guide Ms. Yuan's explanations were particularly excellent and captivating!
The immersive historical dialogue far exceeded expectations. The legend of the stone rhinoceros controlling the flood, the entertainment life of the Han Dynasty behind the pottery jester figurines, and the craftsmanship of the openwork gilded sachet were all told in detail. It even connected the cultural relics of the Chengdu Museum with the civilization of Sanxingdui and Jinsha sites, turning the scattered exhibits into a coherent historical scroll of ancient Shu.
From the geographical origins of Chengdu as the "Land of Abundance," to the exquisite terracotta figurines and bronzes of the Qin and Han dynasties, to the prosperity of the Tang and Song dynasties, the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, and the Ming and Qing dynasties, the explanations are logically clear and well-structured. The entire presentation is well-organized, providing a systematic understanding of the evolution and development of Chengdu along a clear historical timeline. It also details the historical background and cultural principles related to the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, offering a more detailed and specific explanation than typical tours in Dujiangyan. This tour goes beyond the artifacts themselves, extending to the level of craftsmanship, social customs, and people's ideologies of the time. Visiting a museum is not inherently boring; by understanding the city, the artifacts themselves, and the craftsmanship and significance behind them, the experience becomes vivid and engaging, encompassing both the artifacts and the city and culture they represent.
The third class, Chengdu Museum Take bus No. 47 from Yanshikou and get off at Xiyu Road. Just cross the road and you will see the Chengdu Museum. It is still very popular. In addition to the long queues of famous restaurants, the superior geographical location also makes it particularly eye-catching. The following is the abbreviation of the local citizens, Chengbo. When I made the appointment, it was past noon. Since the old lady was a little tired, I took her to take a quick look. The museum is very new. I didn't have time to see when it was established. The cultural relics are also treasures of sages from past dynasties. The exhibits on the first floor are very unique. Whoever sees them will be happy. If you don't believe it, see the picture below. The facial expressions of each person of different ages are like eating magpie eggs, smiling from ear to ear, and looking at it is so festive. The cultural relics in Chengdu Museum are old, but the architecture is contemporary. I didn't go to the second floor or above because I saw the busy staff on the first floor setting up the exhibition. It was really a bad time. The Mexican American leopard exhibition started the next day. My old lady and I were exhausted after visiting the Wuhou Temple in the morning. I decided to come back another day. The old lady's health is important. One day later, I came to visit again. Hi, I was unlucky. I didn't get the admission ticket, so I went back in disappointment. I took a few photos at the Peony Square and returned to the city for dinner. I didn't see Chengdu Museum comprehensively. I failed to pass this self-study test paper after marking it myself. Because I didn't finish the questions. Leaving a little regret is also a thought. If there is expectation, there will be yearning. There is a long way to go, and I will revisit the old place. My experience is that living a joke is the same as living a poem. As long as the distance is within reach, it is not far away, and it is out of reach. Life cannot be too full, water will overflow, things will turn into the opposite when they are too full, the moon will wane when it is full, haste makes waste, we must learn to leave some space. Look at the expressions of these cultural relics, a contented mentality, have you been infected?
No need to make an appointment, no need to buy tickets, the green channel over 60 years old directly enter the museum. There are 9 exhibition halls on the first floor of the six-story building, and it is difficult to complete a one-time tour without some physical strength. There are really too many real objects and pictures in the Chengdu Museum, and the changes of the century and development process in Chengdu are recorded in detail! A good place to recommend it
Chengdu not only has many delicious foods, but also many museums. The Chengdu Museum is located in the city center next to Tianfu Square. It is very nice to visit. When there are fewer people, you can make an appointment at the door in advance to visit. The Chengdu Museum shows the growth process of Chengdu from the ancient Shu civilization to today. At the same time, the pottery figurines in the cultural relics also reflect the positive and optimistic attitude of Chengdu people. The jeweled rhinoceros and lacquer figurines in the museum are also amazing, but I like the cheerful pottery figurines the most!
Chengdu Museum currently has nearly 300,000 collections, forming a relatively complete collection series from the Neolithic Age to the Republic of China, including historical relics, shadow puppets, modern and contemporary calligraphy and painting masterpieces, etc. Among them, there are many precious cultural relics such as the Western Zhou Dynasty animal head double-eared bronze jar. These collections not only show the history and culture of the Chengdu area, but also provide valuable physical materials for studying the social and economic conditions and cultural life at that time.
From May 18 to August 10, Chengdu Museum held a special exhibition "Great Preparation and Great Virtue - Zeng State and E State in the Bronze Age" in the temporary exhibition hall No. 3 on the third floor. From about 2000 BC to 500 BC, China entered the Bronze Age, and Chinese civilization ushered in an important turning point. The widespread use of bronze is the most prominent feature of this period. The bronze civilization of the Shang Dynasty flourished comprehensively, and bronze ware became a symbol of political power; in the Zhou Dynasty, the ritual and music system became increasingly mature. Bronze ritual vessels, as an important carrier of this system, have been highly valued since the establishment of the Zhou Dynasty, and Chinese bronze culture ushered in prosperity and prosperity. "During the time of Zhou, the wind of floating spread all over the world, and the city of Jianghan was the first to receive the education of King Wen." At the beginning of the Zhou Dynasty, the policy of "enfeoffment of relatives and vassal protection of Zhou" was adopted. The Han River Basin in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River was an important strategic fulcrum for the Zhou people to manage the southern scholars. The Zhou royal family widely enfeoffed vassal states here, including E State and Zeng State, which were located east of the Han River and on the banks of the water. As an old clan of the Shang Dynasty with the surname "Gu", the E State migrated several times with the characteristics of the northern bronze culture; as a relative of the Zhou Dynasty with the surname "Ji", the Zeng State took root in the east of the Han Dynasty with the ritual and music system. The two countries used utensils to show the rituals. Under the strong influence of the bronze ritual system, casting technology, and characteristics of utensils in the Central Plains, they innovated based on their own cultural traditions and regional factors, and gradually formed a unique bronze culture. It is one of the most vivid chapters in the early Chinese bronze civilization, and it also played a harmonious sound in the development process of the "pluralistic unity" of Chinese civilization. Utensils carry the way, and objects supplement history. There are few historical records about the E State and the Zeng State, but with the continuous enrichment of archaeological data, their historical features have finally been revealed. This exhibition selects 125 pieces (sets) of fine cultural relics from Hubei and Zeng. It uses bronze ware as the carrier and inscriptions as the longitude and latitude to outline the historical development of the two countries, leading us to appreciate the beauty of bronze ware art that is a fusion of the Central Plains ritual system and the Jianghan culture, and to taste the brilliant culture nurtured by the ritual and music civilization of China's Bronze Age.
