For this autumn-exclusive window, I made a special trip to Chongzhou
Late autumn to early winter, I always think of that door and window dyed in golden hues. Following the poetic line "At the east end of the small pavilion by Yanhuachi, autumn always brings memories of quiet times," I set off from Chengdu for an hour to experience this Tang Dynasty garden's ginkgo🍂 limited romance.
This is a window opening to Yanhuachi's two century-old ginkgo trees—sturdy branches holding up a canopy of golden umbrellas. When the wind blows, thousands of ginkgo leaves flutter down, covering the temple grounds in gold. At this moment, this ancient garden, once a filming location for the 1987 version of Dream of the Red Chamber, has become a golden secret realm.
In front of the Confucian Temple, find the right angle to shoot upward, capturing the vermilion halls and golden tree crowns in one frame, freezing the garden’s autumn scenery. Strolling along the path by the pond, the flower lattice windows of Qinhe Hall frame the ginkgo like a natural picture frame. In the garden, you might encounter Jia Baoyu sitting quietly on the stone steps reading poetry, while a beauty in ancient costume passes by, as if stepping into the drama of Dream of the Red Chamber.
