New Cathedral (Catedral de la Immaculada)

The new church is located in Cuenca, Ecuador. It was built in 1885 and is a well-known local religious building. The whole is a neo-Gothic architectural style. The blue and white dome is very beautiful, making it a landmark of Cuenca. Marble and alabaster are used for the exterior of the church, and the pink marble on the floor was brought from the Italian city of Carrara. The flat-roofed tower is said to be the result of a miscalculation by the architect. If the full planned height of the spire was built, the church foundation would not be able to support the weight.
