The whole mountain is covered with evergreen forest all year round, and thus it gets this name “Qingcheng” mountain, which literally translated as “mountain of green”. Driving is convenient for parking, and taxis can take you directly to the destination, avoiding the hassle of transfers. Seniors and kids can easily reach the destination. 🎫Ticket Purchase Buy tickets online in advance to avoid queuing on-site. You can also buy round-trip tickets for the sightseeing bus, which costs CNY 10 for a single trip and CNY 20 for a round trip, saving seniors and kids a lot of walking. 🕙Travel Time Arriving at around 9:00 am is best, as the sunlight is soft and the temperature is comfortable. Seniors and kids won't feel too hot or too cold. 🗺️Travel Route After entering the mountain gate, take the sightseeing bus to Yuecheng Lake. The scenery along the way is beautiful, and seniors and kids can enjoy it leisurely. After arriving at Yuecheng Lake, take a boat across the river. A single boat ticket costs CNY 5, which is a novel and interesting experience for kids. After getting off the boat, take the cable car up the mountain. A single cable car ticket costs CNY 35, and a round-trip ticket costs CNY 60. You can easily reach the area near Shangqing Palace, and seniors and kids won't get tired from climbing the mountain. Visit Shangqing Palace and Laojun Pavilion to admire ancient architecture and experience Taoist culture. The scenery is also beautiful, making it a great place for taking photos. When going down the mountain, you can walk slowly for a while. There are pavilions along the way where you can rest and enjoy the mountain scenery. When you get tired, take the sightseeing bus back to the visitor center. 🍱Food There are many snack stalls in the scenic area, offering tofu pudding, corn, cold noodles, and more. The flavors are good and can satisfy the taste preferences of the whole family. If seniors and kids are not used to the food, you can also bring some snacks and fruits. ❗Notes Check the weather forecast in advance and choose a sunny day for a better travel experience. Qingcheng Mountain is located 68 km west of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, and 10 km northeast of Dujiangyan. It is a national key cultural relic protection unit and a national 5A tourist attraction. It is very convenient to drive or take the high-speed train. You can take a sightseeing bus directly to the mountain gate of the scenic area at Qingchengshan Railway Station. The parking lot for tourists is far away, and the scenic area has a free shuttle bus. However, it is about 3 km from the drop-off station to the mountain gate of the scenic area, and you can buy a ticket to take a sightseeing bus or walk. One day in mid-September, we drove to Qingcheng Mountain. The sky was full of thick clouds, and there was light rain from time to time, which drove away the heat, but we still sweated when walking up the mountain. In such weather, mosquitoes did not rest. They would suck blood quietly when people were not prepared, leaving red and swollen marks and an unbearable itch. The Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area is divided into two parts: the front mountain and the back mountain. The cultural relics are concentrated in the front mountain, while the back mountain is mainly characterized by natural scenery of deep valleys and majestic peaks. Most tourists who visit Qingcheng Mountain for the first time visit the front mountain, and so did we. Qingcheng Mountain is worthy of being one of the four famous Taoist mountains in China. From the foot of the mountain to the top of the front mountain, there are Taoist temples and palaces with various names. It is said that Ning Fengzi practiced Taoism in the mountain during the reign of the Yellow Emperor. After continuous development in the Han and Jin dynasties, the number of Taoist temples reached more than 70 in the prosperous period of the Sui and Tang dynasties. There are more people entering the mountain than Taoist temples, some seeking immortals and Taoism, some seeking seclusion and sightseeing, and some hiking and fitness.
