There were performances, dancing, and face-changing, a total of 45 minutes, right on the Vajra Embankment, surrounded by restaurants. The actors were not only professional, but also came down to shake hands with the audience 🤝. Overall, it was a good experience!
"Shangshan Dujiangyan" is a large-scale intangible cultural heritage show that uses water as a link, water as a carrier, and water as a center to connect all elements, and reads the history, context, and characters of Dujiangyan. Stage design concept: The stage eaves are derived from the "Wanniantai", and its background screen - seawater pattern, unique shape and LED scenery have a shielding function and fully beautify the stage effect.
We specially invited a well-known domestic director, Le Lei, who led a professional team to assist. He had served as the chief director of many outstanding large-scale events, including "Executive Director of the 2023 Chengdu World University Games", "Executive Chief Director of the 2019 World Police Games", "Chief Director of the Opening Ceremony of the China University Student TV Festival", "Chief Director of the China Extreme Sports Conference", "Chief Director of the China Internet Audiovisual Festival", and "Chief Director of the Sanxingdui Grand Sacrifice". The team combined domestic professional music, video, lighting, and wire work to produce a shocking large-scale immersive stage play.
The play restores the legendary history of Li Bing and his sons who led the people to build the thousand-year-old ancient weir 2279 years ago, and praises the great man's extraordinary achievements. Without Li Bing and his sons leading the people to control floods, there would be no Dujiangyan, which has benefited the people for thousands of years, and there would be no Chengdu Plain with abundant products and droughts; there would be no strange and magnificent ancient civilization in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River centered on Sanxingdui, and there would be no prosperous and wealthy today.
The unique cultural connotation of Dujiangyan is reflected in the play. The plot is taken from: "Erlang Shen bravely fights the dragon, fire attacks the jade fort to open the treasure bottle, Li Bing and his son repair the ancient weir, a collection of spicy life, a show of Qingcheng Tai Chi, the magic of fire-breathing and face-changing...using the way of cultural communication to bring Dujiangyan to life, worship water and pray for safety" in miniature and present it in front of everyone. The whole performance is carried out through wirework, martial arts, face-changing, magic and other stunts, which feast the eyes of tourists and make the trip worthwhile.

This show is a fantastic value, packed with captivating traditional performances. The face-changing act was absolutely incredible—definitely a must-see! Shame it is only 50 mins long.
This is a good hotel, I would book this hotel in my further trip.
The show was wonderful. I like the big beauties. The face-changing was wonderful. There was also tea in a covered bowl. I have seen it in Kuanzhai Alley in Chengdu, but it was not as good as this one. It was a very good show. [Price-performance ratio] Good
The theater is in the scenic area. The staff called us in advance to tell us the specific location. The service was very considerate. Because it was raining, there were not many tourists. The actors still performed very hard. It was the first time to watch the face-changing at such a close distance. The children were scared. The flying sister was very beautiful, it was really good.
As a native of Northeast China, I rarely see Sichuan Opera. This performance was really shocking. The story background of Spitfire and Ancient Weir Legend is really a feast for the eyes. It is a different visual feast. I still highly recommend it. The actors are very professional and interactive. Not bad!
Dujiangyan can be called a classic of ancient Chinese damless water diversion projects. It has created a form of water conservancy where people and nature coexist harmoniously. It is a hydraulic structure with unique aesthetics. If you go to Dujiangyan, I recommend watching the performance of Shangshan Dujiangyan, which is very exciting. Although the ticket price is more expensive than the face-changing performance in the city, it is more exciting. The VIP ticket seats are all in the middle, which is very good.
Very nice show, it's worth bringing the kids here, the show is very interesting, the actors are very dedicated, if you have the conditions you can buy the front row, so the actors can come down and interact with us, the kids are very happy, I think it's worth it
