Nanqiao Bridge
The Dujiangyan Nanqiao Bridge is located on the Minjiang River inside the river, below the Baopingkou of Dujiangyan, and is a magnificent gallery-style ancient bridge between Nan Street and Fuxing Street. Originally named 'Puzi Bridge', the bridge is about 133 meters long, with 4 rows and 5 arches. It has been damaged many times. The last renovation of Nanqiao still featured 5 arches, with a bridge length of 45 meters and a width of 10 meters. Various colored paintings, carved beams and painted rafters, folk colored sculptures, and calligraphy couplets are integrated, earning it the reputation of 'Waterborne Painted Building', 'The First Bridge at the Source of the River', and 'Viewing Victory Platform'.
You will reach Nanqiao Bridge right at the entrance and exit of Dujiangyan. The lights on Nanqiao Bridge are turned on around 18:30 in the evening, and the 'blue tears' are also a lighting effect. Nanqiao Bridge is connected to Guan County; crossing Nanqiao Bridge, you enter Guan County, and passing through Guan County to Xuanhuamen, crossing the road, you will arrive at the Lidui Park Station. Dujiangyan City is ranked first in the list of cultural relics, with snack streets, rapid water flows, and crowds of people, open all day for free.
Simply locate 'Nanqiao' or 'Dujiangyan', or you can stroll from the main gate of Guan County Ancient City, pass through the once Guan County Ancient City, and you will arrive at Nanqiao Bridge.
Note: Next to Nanqiao Bridge is the main entrance to the Dujiangyan Scenic Area, with a large parking lot. However, it is advised not to drive here on holiday evenings, as it really can get congested.
Address: Outside the main entrance of Dujiangyan Scenic Area, Huayuan Road, Dujiangyan City, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, 1.1km from Dujiangyan Scenic Area Station (bus station), about a 14-minute walk
A must-see for Dujiangyan travelers is the Guanxian Ancient Town. At night, you should definitely head to the South Bridge to see the "Blue Tears." The rushing river is so romantic, like a dreamlike fairytale, you can't help but exclaim in amazement!

Nanqiao not only has the style of an ancient bridge, but also has very sophisticated architectural art. Nanqiao is a microcosm of the changes in Dujiangyan city. Dujiangyan South Bridge is located on the inner river of Minjiang River below Baopingkou, the water conservancy hub of Dujiangyan. It is a magnificent ancient corridor bridge connecting Nanjie and Fuxing Street. The original name of Nanqiao was the Zen-like "Puji Bridge". It was built in the fourth year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1878). It was a wooden bridge at that time. After several reconstructions, it became the exquisite and imposing corridor bridge. The corridor bridge is about 133 meters long, with 4 rows and 5 holes, and the bridge is 10 meters wide. The corridor bridge is exquisitely carved with beams and painted buildings. It integrates painted, colored sculptures, wood carvings, calligraphy and painting couplets. It is known as the "Water Painting Building", "The First Bridge at the Source of the River", and "Lansheng Terrace". Walking on the bridge, you will also meet the "Monkey King"!
The night view of Nanqiao is magnificent, but there are so many people that you can't squeeze in. I couldn't see it the first time I went there. There were fewer people after 10:30 the next day. It was difficult to get a taxi during peak hours. You had to walk out of this area to get a taxi.
Worth going! A unique bridge, and a small commercial street after crossing the bridge. Quite full of life.
