Compared to Mount Fuji, I love Mount Omuro—the prototype of "Your Name"—more in Japan
🗻 Travelers! Don’t just focus on Mount Fuji when you go to Japan! Mount Omuro in Shizuoka Prefecture is the hidden gem! As the model for the "sacred mountain" in "Your Name," this conical volcano comes with an anime filter, fresh and healing. Every casual photo looks like a scene from a Japanese movie. It’s less crowded, unique, and perfect for photos!
📍Address: Omuroyama Park, Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Just navigate to "Mount Omuro." Located in the core area of the Izu Peninsula, surrounded by tea gardens and sea views, the scenery along the way is stunning.
🚌 Transportation:
- Independent travel: Take the JR Limited Express from Tokyo Shinjuku Station to "Izu-Kogen Station," about 2.5 hours. After exiting the station, take a taxi for 10 minutes to the foot of the mountain, taxi fare about 1500 yen; you can also take the local bus "Izukyu Bus," get off at "Omuroyama Tozanguchi" stop, and walk 5 minutes to the mountain.
- Self-driving: Suitable for those planning to circle the Izu Peninsula. There is a large parking lot at the foot of the mountain, parking fee 500 yen/day, and you can stop anytime along the way to enjoy the scenery.
✨ Must-do experiences:
✅ Cable car to the top: A must! The orange cable car slowly ascends, offering a panoramic view of the Izu tea gardens and distant Sagami Bay. At the top, the 360° observation deck is breathtaking, with the crater’s depression clearly visible. On clear days, you can even see Mount Fuji, bringing the anime scene to life.
✅ Summit shrine: A small shrine at the cable car exit, with a red torii gate and green lawn, full of Japanese atmosphere. Perfect for photos in kimono, and you can buy a charm as a souvenir.
✅ Flower sea at the foot: Cherry blossoms bloom in spring (April-May), and cosmos flowers bloom in autumn (October-November). Vast flower fields surround the mountain base, combined with Mount Omuro’s silhouette, like stepping into a scene from a Studio Ghibli animation.
🏠 Accommodation:
- Recommended to stay around "Izu-Kogen Station," within walking distance to the station for convenient travel, such as "Izu Kogen Hotel." Some rooms have views of Mount Omuro, including breakfast, about 8000 yen per person per night.
- For a more unique stay, choose a hot spring guesthouse at the foot of the mountain, like "Omuroyama Onsen Inn," where you can soak in a private bath with mountain views and enjoy local seafood cuisine, about 12000 yen per person per night.
❗ Tips:
- Cable car operation: May be suspended in winter (December-February) due to wind and snow. Be sure to check the official website before going. Round-trip ticket price is 1200 yen/adult, half price for children.
- Dressing advice: It’s windy at the top, so bring a light jacket even in summer. Wear light-colored clothes (white, beige) to match the green mountain and blue sky for fresher photos.
- Visiting time: Half a day is recommended. Take the cable car up in the morning and visit the flower sea at the foot in the afternoon. Avoid noon for softer light, better for photos.
- Language: Signs in the scenic area have English. Most guesthouses and restaurants can communicate simply. Preparing a translation app in advance is basically enough.
Travelers! If you want to find a place in Japan that is less crowded, beautiful, and full of anime charm, Mount Omuro is definitely worth a visit! Here you can truly feel the healing and romance from "Your Name"~
Heard that Mount Fuji has finally received its first snowfall of the year? 🗻 After experiencing the latest snowfall on record last year, Mount Fuji welcomed its first snowfall of the year today. After several days of rain, this year's snowfall is more than half a month earlier than last year. I'm really looking forward to this year's autumn foliage season; what surprises will this magical country bring us? The season for Mount Fuji has arrived!
## Mount Fuji: The totem of the Japanese soul, the priceless shock that must be seen in this life! **Definitely worth it! **It is far more than a mountain, but also a living totem that carries Japan's millennium faith and aesthetics**. Whether looking out over its sacred outline or challenging the summit, it is a great way to feel the Japanese spirit deeply. **Core highlights hit the soul:*** **The fast-changing scene:** The four seasons rotate to give it a very different face - spring cherry for skirt, summer green, autumn red leaves, winter snow crown. Under the clear sky, the momentum is magnificent, and the clouds are looming. **Each eye is a unique scenery postcard**. * ** Classic perspective punch card: ** * ** Kawaguchiko reflection: ** The lake is like a mirror, reflecting the perfect "reverse Fuji", especially when there is no wind in the morning, it is a photography paradise. * **Shincangshan Asakusa Park: **The five-tower is framed with Mount Fuji, interpreting the most classic Japanese aesthetic. * **Goden Field Outlet: **Shopping while enjoying the huge mountain nearby, a wonderful experience. * **Top Challenge (7-9 Moon): **Conquering 3,776 meters on foot, meeting the "Yulai Light" (Sunrise) in the crater, and feeling the ultimate experience of conquest and sacred fusion (need to be fully prepared). * **Cultural Immersion: ** Hawthorn Shrine, Ninno Bahai Lingquan, and Fuji Theme Art Museum ... Infiltrate their awe and worship everywhere. **Tips: *** **Weather determines everything! ** Be sure to check the visibility forecast before traveling, and it may be completely "invisible" on rainy days. * Recommended for a distant view**Kawaguchiko/Mountain Lake area**, convenient transportation and diverse perspectives. * Climbing requires professional equipment, make an appointment in advance for mountain houses, and do your best. **Summary: ** The beauty of Mount Fuji transcends the vision, which is the resonance of nature and culture. Its sacred sense and magnificent beauty, no matter how close you look, it will become a scenery engraved into memory. If the heavens are beautiful, be sure to include it in the itinerary - not only to see a mountain, but also to touch the window of the Japanese soul. 🗻✨
Mt Fuji is always magnifient. When taking the train from Osaka to Japan, you might have a huge chance to see it - in both local train and bullet train. Aside from Tokyo Side, the Shizuoka side is also good. Always a marvel to see. I would advice the Shizuoka side for less people.
🌈Theme Features: When you go to Mount Fuji, you have to stay in a hot spring hotel. This hotel is not far from Mount Fuji. You can see it from the window of the restaurant where you eat. It is beautiful to look at Mount Fuji while eating! 🏘️Room type/layout: The room is quite standard, which is considered large in Japan. The air conditioning and hot water are quite powerful. There are hair dryers, kettles, pajamas, slippers, and various toiletries. 🧹Soundproof/sanitation: Clean and tidy, quiet and comfortable. 🎯Entertainment facilities: The hot spring bath is on the first floor, and men and women are separated to soak naked. It is said to be rich in a variety of rare minerals that are beneficial to the human body. 💰️Per capita consumption: Quite cheap, about three or four hundred. 💗Other tips: There is a beautiful back garden, which is quite beautiful. It is most beautiful in the evening. The breakfast is so-so, but there is hot porridge. This is the only time that "Chinese stomach" has hot porridge during this trip to Japan.
Mount Fuji's fifth station is somewhat similar to the Everest Base Camp (of course, it is much lower than it), located at the junction of the snow line. When you drive here, you have to hike up the mountain. This is also the last service area before climbing the mountain, where you can accumulate energy and replenish resources. There are restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, post offices, souvenir shops, horse riding grounds, parking lots, toilets, etc. Japan reveres Mount Fuji very much and regards climbing Mount Fuji as an extremely great thing. Many practitioners have climbed to the top of the mountain, and the oldest is a 105-year-old man. There are viewing platforms built along the hillside, with the names of various landmarks marked on the map, and the sea of clouds is very spectacular.
Mount Fuji accompanied us for a day, appearing and disappearing, but I still miss the first time I saw it six years ago🏔️. Without the blue sky, the reflection of the lake, and especially without the white snow, Mount Fuji seemed to have changed its appearance.
Relatively speaking, Mount Fuji in Japan is also a relatively large tourist attraction in Japan. Overall, it has a very high cost-effectiveness, especially when the cherry blossoms are in bloom or at sunset. At other times, its scenery is relatively simple. Only when the cherry blossoms are in bloom or the sunset, the scenery is generally more beautiful. In Mount Fuji, the prices are not particularly high and the service is also relatively good.
In fact, the scenery on the road is like a wordless book. Under the influence of subjective and objective factors, everyone's feelings will not be the same. Many people think that Mount Fuji is not worth visiting. I hope this guide will help everyone put aside objective factors and fully experience the beauty of Mount Fuji! Mount Fuji visibility: Many friends come to Mount Fuji for the distant view and to take a beautiful check-in photo. But it is not said that Mount Fuji can be seen every day. Needless to say, it is cloudy and rainy. However, due to the influence of clouds and fog, Mount Fuji will hide itself even on sunny days. So everyone needs to make a good strategy. You can first check the visibility in recent days on the Fujimiyo newspaper. The closer the number is to ①, the higher the visibility. Of course, you can also use the real-time camera in conjunction with skyline webcams to watch the current center of Mount Fuji. Visibility, of course, and weather are all subject to change, so they can only be used as a reference, but it’s better than nothing, right?
