OutstandingIt's worth a visit. Walking among a group of stones, taking photos, and checking in, it's beautiful and a good exercise. In summer, you must take good sun protection measures, as your head will be exposed to the sun. Little Adventure to the Hongshilin National Geopark Outside FurongI took a half day trip from Furong Ancient City to this little hidden gem. I was traveling with another solo traveler I met at my hotel, and we thought we could easily use DiDi to get there and back because its about a 30 minute drive from the city. However, because the Geopark is in the middle of nowhere, our DiDi driver told us it would be hard to find someone to pick us up from there. We agreed to have her wait for us while we visited the park and then she took us back to the city afterwards. We still aren't sure if she was being completely honest because we did see a bus along the way so I am sure there were other options, but if you have spent any time traveling in China, you know how hard it can be to travel to and from non-heavily tourist destinations without a car/gathering information to do so. So we took the easier option and had her wait for us because we didn't mind paying more. The Geopark itself was very cool! When you arrive, you can buy combined tickets for the park and entrance into Furong Ancient City, which we did because we went to the Ancient city that night. Inside the park, there are well explained signs in English explaining how the rocks were created. We spent about 2 hours there walking around and exploring all the rock formations, flowers and pollinators, and ponds. Walking through the maze of rocks covered in vegetation made me fill like I was in Jurassic Park! We only saw a few other groups of people within the park, therefore, it was very quiet and calming, which we both needed after recently traveling in China's loud, busy cities. There were a few food stalls inside and in the parking lot that we bought ice cream and fruits at and there was a kid's park inside which of course we played on for a bit. The Red Stone Forest is not red, but the various shapes of the stone forest are worth a visit. The scenery is beautiful. It is similar to the Sobuya Stone Forest in Enshi, Hubei, but not as large as the Sobuya Stone Forest. Many ancient fossils can be seen on the stones. The ticket price is relatively expensive.

In Guzhang County, Xiangxi, there is a unique red stone forest. Hongshilin is located in Hongshilin Town, Guzhang County, Xiangxi, Hunan Province. It faces Furong Town across the Youshui River. It is a pearl on the Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang Tourism Golden Corridor. It is the only red carbonate stone forest in China and the only red carbonate rock forest scenic spot formed in the Cambrian period in the world. It was approved as a national geological park in 2005.
