This was the most enjoyable place we visited this year. My child is now obsessed with these immersive NPC experiences. He asks me every day where else we can find something similar. We took him to an escape room, and he still wants more. It seems like this experience really raises his bar. The NPCs are incredibly engaged, and there are tons of story quests. The scenery is also absolutely beautiful. We absolutely loved it!
Tides and Music Resort is located in Haining, Zhejiang, at the heart of the Yangtze River Delta. With its prime location and convenient transportation, it's hailed as "Hangzhou's front yard, Shanghai's backyard, China's garden retreat, and the world's premier tidal viewing destination." Leveraging Haining's unique resources and urban layout, the resort combines preservation with development, retaining ancient architectural relics from the Ming, Qing, and Republic of China eras while incorporating modern designs and diverse city views. It boasts a grand, royal charm rarely found in typical Jiangnan water towns. With the overarching theme of "trendsetting musical lifestyle aesthetics," Tides and Music Resort is an international music-themed vacation destination that blends natural ecology, historical culture, tourism, and local industry.

A very beautiful town, developed by the same developer as Wuzhen, boasts excellent cultural heritage and aesthetics. The antique-style buildings and waterways in the town are very well done. The background music features classical music, mainly cello and violin, with some jazz accompaniment. Walking through this "Chaozhou City of Music" feels like walking through a painting… The former residences of Chen Gelao, Xu Zhimo's soy sauce shop, and Principal Zheng all allow you to feel the local people's emphasis on education and the scholarly atmosphere. The only regret is the lack of a direct view of the tidal bore; the waves I saw weren't very large, but the natural scenery of the Qiantang River flowing upstream was indeed a pleasant surprise.
The cobblestone streets hold a thousand years of prosperity. The ancient city is vast, with its ancient streets and alleys offering picturesque views at every turn. The "Tide Wall" at the entrance is a must-see for photos, starting on the hour. As an outsider, I've always been fascinated by the Qiantang River tidal bore; however, upon arriving in Haining, I discovered... the tide timing was off. There was no high tide, only a slight tidal wave. A bit of bad luck! Next time, I'll definitely check the high tide time carefully!
Yanguan Chaole City, a new tourist landmark, is a large scenic spot integrating ancient town, former residence, tide watching, accommodation and catering. The normal ticket is 80 yuan per person, including the tide watching park and the ticket. In fact, the tide watching park is just a walk from the scenic spot to the back door. The scenic spot has beautiful scenery, and there are still some things such as returning to Jin Yong's former residence. However, since the scenic spot was newly opened last year, some old house renovation projects are still under construction, some areas are not open, and there are relatively few merchants.
It doesn't seem to be as bad as the reviews say. I went there during the National Day holiday. I also saw a drone show and a concert at night. There were quite a lot of people. Everyone came out to join in the fun. It was quite popular. There were many people checking in at the Internet-famous waterfall at the entrance. Many children went up to play. I was a little eager to go. I had a meal in the restaurant in the scenic area. I liked the environment very much. There was a small bridge and flowing water. Maybe the environment was good, and the food was also delicious.
The scenic area is super large, you must buy a shuttle bus ticket, it is definitely a great experience. The distance between the scenic spots is quite long. The scenic area is under construction, so there are many construction sites, so pay attention to safety. You need to buy a separate ticket for the House of Music, the night view is very beautiful, it is recommended to go once during the day and at night.
I went to see the tide during the National Day holiday. I saw the Chaole City nearby and went for a walk. I felt that netizens were all visiting a fake ancient city. I went to Chen Ge Lao's house, Jin Yong Academy, Poseidon Temple, Confucius Temple and Academy, Police Station... I was exhausted 🦶. It felt super big inside and I didn't finish walking. Why do you think there is nothing to see? Ladies, you must go to the Confucius Temple and Academy to take pictures. It's super photogenic
It is quite convenient to get here from Haining. You can take the subway to Yanguan Station first, and then take bus 333, which takes about 20 minutes to the entrance of the scenic spot. You need to buy tickets at the entrance of the scenic spot, which can also be bought on Ctrip. There is a tide wall at the entrance of the scenic spot. There will be a corresponding wave at each time, which is very spectacular. The scenic spot is quite large. Since the small attractions inside are relatively scattered, it takes about three or four hours to walk around, which is quite tiring. There are mainly few cafes for leisure and dining inside, so the overall itinerary will be slightly monotonous in this aspect.
