There is a book titled "The Rose Villages of England" that features a total of 42 picturesque villages and towns in the United Kingdom. The Lake District claims three of them, and Hawkshead is one. It is the birthplace of the Lake Poets, and William Wordsworth, the founding poet of the British Romantic Lake Poets, had a deep connection to this place. With his fresh, natural style and clear, fluent language, he pioneered the British Romantic style of poetry. Hawkshead is also a historically significant ancient village and was once a famous hub for wool products.
