Shanghai Astronomy Museum

Located on the shore of Dishui Lake in Lingang, the Shanghai Astronomy Museum officially opened to the public on July 18, 2021. The exhibition hall has a construction area of ​​38,000 square meters. The main building imitates the orbit of celestial bodies in a beautiful spiral shape. The circular skylight, inverted dome and dome theater form a landmark "three-body" structure, which jointly interprets the laws of celestial movement. The exhibition hall has the vision of "shaping a complete view of the universe". The main exhibition is divided into three parts: "Home", "Universe" and "Journey", which stimulates people's curiosity and encourages people to feel the starry sky and understand the universe.

The completion and opening of the Shanghai Astronomy Museum marks a new stage in the development of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum into a super-large comprehensive science and technology museum cluster that integrates science and technology museums, natural history museums, and planetariums. It will further demonstrate Shanghai's urban soft power, promote high-quality development of the museum industry in the new era, and better meet the people's growing spiritual and cultural needs.

Visitors step into the "Home" exhibition area, follow ancient myths and start a journey to ask the sky, place themselves under realistic stars, and travel between planets. Faced with the various planets in the solar system, we can't help but wonder: Is there water on other planets? Are there lasers? Are there volcanoes? Do meteorites bring life? Who are the neighbors of the sun? Where are we in the universe?

The word "universe" always arouses people's Unlimited reverie, endless void, romantic galaxy, mysterious black hole, as if gazing at it is eternity. The "universe" exhibition area has five theme areas: "time and space", "gravity", "light", "elements" and "life", which show the laws of the universe from different perspectives and directly hit the core and cutting-edge concepts of modern astronomy. Here, you will meet the masters face to face, embrace the flashes of wisdom in the history of human astronomy, and explore the astronomical mysteries deep in the starry sky from multiple angles and disciplines.

Journey

The "Journey" exhibition area, as the name suggests, is a panoramic display of the long journey of human exploration of the mysteries of the universe, from the thoughts of the ancients to the modern astronomical revolution, observatories and research programs around the world today, various astronomical satellites, and our own Chang'e lunar exploration, Skylab and Mars exploration programs. This exhibition area will rely more on scientific stories and imagination of the future to inspire visitors to understand the methods and spirit of scientific exploration, as well as deeper cultural thinking.

After thousands of years of diligent observation, Chinese astronomy has produced a vast record of astronomical phenomena. The unique oriental thinking has created a unique astronomical system that closely links astronomical phenomena with the fate of the empire, as well as a complex calendar system that is orderly inherited and continuously improved. With the collision of Western learning and the eastward spread of scientific knowledge, the continuous introduction of scientific knowledge eventually changed the form and function of traditional astronomy, and also made Shanghai the starting point of modern Chinese astronomy.

Please note that the spacecraft has received a red command from the headquarters. There is a serious malfunction inside the 03 base stationed on Mars. We are one of the nearest spacecraft. All non-essential crew members have been temporarily organized into a special rescue team to go to Mars to perform the rescue mission. Please wear your identity bracelet and go to the spacecraft dock to listen to the mission briefing.
