Preface to "Tracing the origins of Shenhu"
Over two thousand years ago, Shanghai became the fiefdom of Lord Chunshen, one of the "Four Lords of the Warring States." He led the people in transforming this area from a fishing village by the East China Sea into a prosperous land of fish and rice in the Jiangnan region. To commemorate Lord Chunshen's enduring achievements and the great wisdom of Shanghai's early inhabitants, later generations referred to the area as "Shen" and "Hu," the latter derived from the bamboo fishing tools used by locals.

Round 1: Jiangnan in Shanghai
The meandering Huangpu River, flowing for millennia, has nurtured the poetic Jiangnan of Shanghai. Jiangnan, you are a painting—misty rain veiling ink-wash landscapes; Jiangnan, you are a melody—the soft Wu dialect singing endless tales of worldly vicissitudes. A boat, an umbrella, a love story—this is the Jiangnan of Shanghai.

Round 2 performance of Shanghai beach
"A hub of rivers and seas, a metropolis of the southeast." In 1843, Shanghai officially opened its port to foreign trade, leading to an influx of foreign firms. From then on, the picturesque Jiangnan region of Shanghai became the bustling Shanghai Bund, where Chinese and foreigners coexisted amid dramatic changes.

The third show: Modern times
In the 1920s and 1930s, Shanghai was a melting pot of Eastern and Western cultures. Let us experience the modern era of the bustling international settlement under the neon lights of nighttime Shanghai.

The fourth performance: The age of awakening
Shanghai is where the Chinese revolution set sail. Young people full of revolutionary ideals, represented by Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian, advanced wave upon wave, dyeing this land red with their youth and blood. Let us revisit those magnificent and eventful years.
Other visitors' reviews of Shanghai Songcheng Show Park
Show More ReviewsThe best version of "Eternal Love" is the Hangzhou show, but the Shanghai show is also good, with its retro Shanghai feel. It depends on personal preference. For theaters, you need to book your showtime in advance, otherwise your seats will be very far back. VIP seats aren't much more expensive than regular seats, but they're in the central area. The theater itself is okay, though a bit outdated now. There are also various smaller performances; check the schedules on the app. It's recommended to bring your own food, as you can't leave the theater during the show. To experience everything, you'll need a whole day. "Eternal Love" is worth seeing if you haven't already, but seeing just two or three shows nationwide is enough.
