❤️【Why You Must Go】
While cities measure life by 996 work schedules, Songyang tells you with its "morning clearing weeds, returning with hoe under moonlight" rhythm that: time can be slow, happiness can be light. Here, terraced fields are Earth's poetry, ancient villages are time's way stations, and even the air carries the herbal scent of "take it slow."
If you want to escape the "fast era," come here. Stay in rammed earth guesthouses, gather spring tea with old tea farmers, write a postcard by the cliff window of an avant-garde bookstore, let mountain winds carry away anxiety and streams wash away fatigue—perhaps this is the ultimate meaning of travel.
Songyang Old Street, also known as Nanzhi Street, is located in Songyang County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province. It is one of the oldest ancient streets in the area. It began in the Tang and Song Dynasties, flourished in the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, and still retains a large number of buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is the longest county town old street in Zhejiang Province, with a core line length of 1.9 kilometers, a total planning area of about 7.68 hectares, and a total length of the core pedestrian street of about 640 meters.
Passing by Songyang, I strolled through the old street at night. The old street is on Renmin Road, the center of the county. I think Songyang County was developed from the old street. Walking on the bluestone road, the ancient style still exists. There are mostly farm tool stores, barber shops, noodle shops, and Chinese medicine shops on both sides. In the early years, residents of the surrounding mountain villages must come here to go to the market. We tried the "grandmother's lantern plate" and bought "stewed salt chicken". 👍
The Songyang Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Base is very distinctive. Songyang Gaoqiang is one of the oldest existing operas in Zhejiang Province. It is an independent branch of the eight major Gaoqiang systems in Zhejiang Province. It is also the only Gaoqiang opera that can still be performed in Zhejiang Province. It is a monophonic opera and is called the "living fossil of the opera world" in Zhejiang Province by experts. In May 2005, Songyang Gaoqiang was selected into the first batch of intangible cultural heritage list of Zhejiang Province.
Walking along the Songyang Old Street in Lishui, Zhejiang, you will find it full of life. It is said that the ancient street 1,800 years ago was a living painting of the Qingming Festival on the River, and was hailed as the "last secret place in Jiangnan." The old street is not just a street, but a stretch of it, full of snack bars and time-honored shops, mainly relics from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Along the street, there are blacksmith shops, herbal medicine shops, tailor shops, cloth shops, antique shops, and even old cotton-fluffing shops. There is a "Songyang Old Street Inn" inside, which is specially designed for tourists to rest when they are tired. The boss is very nice and provides free tea, melon seeds, and peanuts. There are many old photos of Songyang from a long time ago on one wall of the store. It feels great to sit inside and drink Songyang fragrant tea and watch people coming and going outside. Some shops have disappeared in other places, but they have survived well here. It was a bit dazed when visiting, and it felt like time was flowing backwards.
It is said that the Old Street has been the center of commercial trade in Songyang since the Tang Dynasty. It reached its peak in the Republic of China and was known as the Five-mile Long Street. Small workshops from all walks of life are still gathered on both sides of the Old Street, such as blacksmithing, weighing, barbering, tailoring, portrait painting, herbal medicine, raincoat making, cotton fluffing, palm-stretched bed making and simple grocery stores. These ancient handicrafts, which are rarely seen and almost lost in many places, are still continued day after day in this old street. These shops are shining on this street, which has been eroded by the wind and rain of history but has a unique charm.
