⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A True Texas Gem – The Barfield Autograph Collection, Amarillo, TX I travel more than 36 weeks a year, and very few hotels stop me in my tracks the moment I walk through the doors—but The Barfield Autograph Collection did exactly that. Within seconds of stepping into the lobby, I knew this place was special. The atmosphere feels more Texas heritage-meets-modern-luxury than typical hotel. The inlaid bookcase behind the front desk immediately caught my eye, it was warm, sophisticated, and welcoming, like the home library of an old friend. Every design choice tells a story: the soft amber lighting, the dark-wood finishes, and those elevator floors adorned with two beautifully inlaid pistols crossing at the barrel and cowhide accents on the walls, a subtle nod to Texas pride done with refined artistry. Our guest room was pure comfort wrapped in elegance. The rich dark-blue walls paired with deep brown trim and textured wallpaper created a calm, inviting backdrop. The furnishings were thoughtfully chosen; modern yet cozy, each piece perfectly placed. Even the lamp shades had a Texas touch with cowhide accents. The artwork told the story of the state, and the mini-bar was stocked with care. It wasn’t just a room; it was a retreat. The restaurant downstairs was equally impressive. From the first bite to the last sip, the food and cocktails reflected the same attention to detail as the rest of the hotel; authentic flavors, beautifully presented, and served by a staff who genuinely love what they do. Every team member we encountered did Texas proud with their warm, attentive, and welcoming countenance. It was clear they were proud to represent The Barfield and enjoyed their jobs. A rare and most appreciate attribute. To whoever designed this hotel: bravo. You’ve managed to capture the very soul of Texas, refined, bold, and endlessly welcoming and turn it into a place travelers will never forget. If you find yourself anywhere near Amarillo, don’t hesitate. Stay at The Barfield Autograph Collection by Marriott. You’ll arrive as a guest but leave feeling like family, taking a lasting impression of the goodness of Texas with you.

Beautiful hotel. Comfortable rooms and stay. All staff was incredibly friendly! I would definitely stay here again. My original plan was to visit the Soeakeasy, but I didn’t realize it was closed on Sunday! Would definitely come back here again!

This hotel has been very well renovated. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Note that there is limited self parking, especially on week nights.

We stayed at the Barfield on both ends of our trip to and from New Mexico and Colorado. The bed was comfortable and the rooms beautiful with a nice attention to detail. We loved the historic building. On the nightstand is a sleep kit with an eye mask and ear plugs. We did hear a train go through our first night and some other outside noises on our return trip but neither interrupted our stay. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Dinner was very good with a special note of the banana pudding tiramisu. Breakfast was just average. Overall we will always pick the Barfield should we travel that way again.

We inquired as to the fragrance policy prior to making our reservation and were assured that the scent would be kept out of our room. It is pumped through the air vents, making that impossible. The chemicals were so heavy and strong in the lobby I only lasted long enough to cancel and go elsewhere. It triggered a migraine, as chemical fragrances are apt to do in folks who experience them.

At the high recommend of friends, we booked this hotel for my wife's birthday on our way to Colorado. I booked a corner suite and reservations in their fine dining restaurant for her special birthday dinner. This is an old historic building located in an area of downtown Amarillo that has many restaurants and bars. For the most part the renovation work is impressive. However, the windows on the building are either original or cheap with very little sound insulation. The hotel had some sort of private party on the rooftop patio below our room and the rooftop bar across the street had a DJ or band. Both of these activities were loud and noisy till 1 or 2 am. Finally, my wife called the front desk and they hung up on her and did not call back. In the morning, I complained to the front desk and they really did not care. When the manager saw that I was complaining, she walked away. The person behind the front desk indicated that she was the manager. We got one of the worst nights sleep that we have ever had at a hotel. The dinner at the restaurant was not up to the standard that was advertised. Food was average for a regular restaurant and service was slow due under staffing. On our way back from Colorado, we stayed in different Marriott property for half the cost with a much better experience and a great nights sleep. In summary, this hotel and it's staff was a major dissapointment and an embarrassment to the Marriott franchise.

We stayed here just one night traveling home from Texas. The staff at the hotel is outstanding. The valet was so helpful—even in the freezing, sleeting wind! This is a very old, refurbished building, so the rooms are small, but they are comfortable and clean. We stayed in a corner room on a high floor, which had a pretty view of downtown (as pretty as Amarillo can be!) We did visit the speakeasy downstairs. This is a cool concept, but it is very small with no host seating people. So, if it’s busy, you’ll have to stalk tables until people get up and leave. The drinks were just okay, nothing creative or different. Our service was terrible. Overall, we would definitely stay again due to the service at the hotel, how comfortable it is and how clean it is!

Downtown Amarillo hotel
This was our 2nd time to stay at the Barfield. It is definitely the best place to stay in Amarillo and we appreciate that the downtown area is very walkable. The front desk recommended the new rooftop bar upon arrival. Although the cocktail menu was creative the service was very slow and it took a while before we could order food. Our room was quiet and comfortable and will stay again but may skip the rooftop bar next time.
