Ambassade Hotel

The staff were top notch from check in to the daily "hello greetings". The staff is super resourceful from the time of booking to check out. The communication is by far the best that I have ever experience.

My favorite Amsterdam hotel with great staff and a good restaurant. Canal views are spectacular and the location is tops with easy access to the city’s many cultural attractions. A hotspot for visiting international writers, many of whose books are displayed in the library bar.

Wonderful time at the Ambassade hotel , this was a great location, beautiful hotel with very comfortable beds , the canal view that we had was wonderful , but the best thing was the amazing staff . In particular the guy who greeted us when we arrived , he was so friendly, warm and amazing personality and most of all genuine he was also there on our other days . Another mention to the wonderful lady in breakfast who served us on the 1st day . These people are a credit to your business . Also the breakfast was very good , ample food and a cooked option too . The only negative for us was the room was maybe a little bit too warm , did turn down the rads and open the window a bit overall an excellent hotel that we couldn’t fault and would highly recommend .

This was our first stay at the Ambassade Hotel and we would definitely go back! We have stayed at a few other hotels on Herengracht before but this is by far the best in terms of hotel facilities, customer service, rooms and location. Before our stay we received emails from the hotel to help us customise our stay which were very useful e.g. airport transfers, table bookings for the hotel, and restaurant and sightseeing recommendations around Amsterdam. From the moment we checked in we were made very welcome, all of the staff at the hotel were so helpful and friendly. We had a lovely superior canal view room which was very comfortable and had everything we needed including a minibar and coffee machine, it was a nice quiet room looking on to Singel, with a lovely modern bathroom with a great shower, underfloor heating and lots of towels and accessories. The room was lovely and clean and cleaned to perfection every day, and we could open windows or put on heating as required, as the weather was variable during our stay! The hotel itself is very modern and comfortable while retaining some of the features and character of the original canal buildings, with lifts to all floors and only a few steps here and there in the corridors where the different canal buildings are linked, and the ground floor has a lovely library bar area with comfortable seats to enjoy a cocktail or two and has games available to play, and there are also lots of different small seating areas to relax in around the hotel, as well as a stunning Brasserie/breakfast room on the first floor. We used the bar a couple of times and the service was excellent, and the drinks and cocktails menu is very extensive and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the excellent service we received throughout, the layout and facilities of the hotel as it is very calm and modern, the lovely spacious bedrooms, and the location of the hotel. Dam Square is about 15 mins walk away, and in the other direction the Flower markets and main shopping streets are within 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The nearest Metro station was about 8 mins walk away on Rokin, and the frequent tram services ran from further down the street at either end. Everything around the hotel was also easily walkable, and there are quite a few nice bars and restaurants on the same street or just around the corners. Very well done to everyone at the Ambassade for making us so welcome and our stay so pleasant, and we hope to see you again next November :-)

The beds were really uncomfortable that is the biggest reason for my review as well as the service from the front desk was rude and not very accommodating at all. I think for your money you can find much better value in other hotels in Amsterdam.
