Wittmore Hotel

This small hotel is beautifully designed and decorated — you immediately feel at home. The room was lovely, and the bed was beyond perfect. The sheets were incredibly soft, and the pillows were exactly the kind I’d love to have at home. Everyone who worked there was warm and genuinely friendly. The restaurant served delicious food, and the breakfast was super good as well. This is a place I’ll always want to come back to.

JetSetBear and the Grumpy Wombat checked into the Wittmore Hotel in late September 2025, and we’re already planning a return. We almost always stay at Hyatts, but this was one of our rare non-Hyatt stays — and it was absolutely worth it. We booked through the Amex Platinum Hotel Collection, which gave us free breakfast every morning plus a $100 dining credit, and that made it an easy choice. The hotel is tucked deep inside the Gothic Quarter, down one of those charming narrow streets that look like a movie set. Silent, private, and atmospheric. When we arrived, the gentleman at reception brought us to a cozy lounge table, handed us glasses of cava, and checked us in while we sat comfortably. He walked through a map of the neighborhood, offered restaurant suggestions, and asked if we needed reservations anywhere. Friendly, warm service without any pretension. The hotel itself is gorgeous. There’s a large courtyard with a cascading living wall of greenery — peaceful, dramatic, and the perfect place for breakfast. Speaking of breakfast: it was excellent every morning. Fresh pastries, great coffee, made-to-order dishes, and service that was genuinely attentive. The Grumpy Wombat even stopped looking grumpy during breakfast, which is the highest possible compliment. Our room was beautifully decorated, extremely quiet, and had one of the most comfortable beds we slept on all year. Air conditioning worked perfectly (Barcelona in September still runs warm). Housekeeping kept everything spotless. Up on the roof they have an adults-only pool and sun-lounging area, and it was never crowded. Just a calm, quiet place to stretch out and enjoy a drink. No kids at the hotel at all, which added to the relaxed atmosphere. We used our $100 dining credit at the hotel’s restaurant, and the food was excellent — especially the fresh seafood and homemade desserts. It’s the kind of place where you expect to eat once and end up coming back again. Bottom line: this hotel is elegant, private, friendly, and designed for adults who want calm instead of chaos. JetSetBear gives it five stars. The Grumpy Wombat loved the cava, the couches, the courtyard, and the quiet — even he couldn’t complain, which means the hotel is basically perfect- especially NO KIDS!!! Highly recommend. We’d stay again in a heartbeat.

The best moment in Spain!! From the morning to the evening, all people in Wittmore hotel gave us so kind and professional service. Especially, Jun led us to have a full rest and feel free to ask any questions. We really appreciate your effort and we’d like to recommend Wittmore to our friends definitely!!!!

This quaint hotel is centrally located and very lovely. Adults only and guest oriented. The staff is extremely friendly and full of great advice for dining and shopping. Highly recommended!!

Our stay at the Wittmore was fantastic. They helped us celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary! It is in a great location in the Gothic District, and the staff and amenities are wonderful! They provided tips for dinners and made our reservations for the evening out. The bar in the hotel is a great little spot to end your evening!

The Wittmore is an oasis of calm in the busy, bustling city of Barcelona. It is ideally situated in the gothic quarter and is well placed for site seeking. As soon as you enter you relax as the ambiance of the decor is sublime. ALL the staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. 5 stars for them all! The food is superb and well presented. Not expensive for the quality of the food compared to other eateries. Breakfast is amazing!
