Ermitage - Mont-Saint-Michel

SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! Please be careful when booking this hotel. My French husband, and my American mother and I, along with our 5 month baby were at this hotel. The images online are enhanced and DO NOT reflect the actual rooms. The rooms are overpriced with old furniture and lay-outs that make no sense. The heating and air-conditioning DO NOT WORK. Again, please be aware that the heat and air in the rooms (we had two suites) do not work. When we asked the owner to help us, he screamed and yelled at us that we were wrong. He ever brought a ladder to our room to prove the air worked and then saw for himself if did not. But instead of offering us a discount or free breakfast, or even just a "sorry", he stormed out and said nothing. He then proceeded to draw us diagrams of how air-conditioning works. It was hostile and uncomfortable. He yelled and became so crazy that my 5 month baby cried hysterically in fear and my 78 year old mother was scared. As we left, we saw an air-conditioning repair van show up and after telling us the air does work and we are just dumb, he had a repair man come, right in front of our faces! It was bizarre and uncomfortable. Also, the restaurant is likely in the Michelin guide because it's one of the few formal places to eat. But please be aware the experience is not formal, up-scale, or elegant. Our lobster was old, smelled very bad, and we did not even finish it. The pasta sauce was disgusting and the prices were very expensive for what in the end was a terrible meal. Please, my husband who is French was absolutely horrified by how rude the owner was and how terrible the rooms were. He similarly was sick from the restaurant and said no French person would consider this a nice hotel or restaurant for the price.

Lovely and charming hotel! The Ermitage Hotel at Mont Saint Michel is an amazing and charming place! We loved the hotel and its people. Starting with Jean-Marc, the concierge, who immediately contacted us. Jean-Marc is a fantastic and smart tour guide with incredible history knowledge who took us to the most beautiful towns and landmarks. Then, Vincent, who works at the hotel restaurant. Jean-Marc and Vincent are wonderful hosts who made us feel like they were good friends of ours. The Director Werner is also really nice and ready to assist guests with any request or wine selection questions; and last but not least, Sabrina and Loic who were terrific too! Thank you again to all of you for an awesome vacation!

Luxury stay close to Mont St. Michel A gem of a place in the vicinity of Mont St. Michel. The owner personally welcomed and took us to our suite which was spacious and luxurious.  The attention to detail of what it offered was extraordinary and the room was extremely quiet.  For breakfast, we had croissants and coffee-- the very best croissants in all of France and the coffee was superb! And for a nominal fee, we were also driven a few minutes to the shuttle bus going to Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey.  All in all, an enjoyable stay at this hotel which we would highly recommend.

The smallest 5-star hotel in Europe! My friend and I checked in during the off-season for one night. The staff was so friendly and accommodating! The owner gave us personalized attention and was very helpful. The location is convenient to Mont Saint Michel: just a five-minute drive to the parking lot to catch the shuttle bus. Highly recommend this hotel if you want to treat yourself.
