Nestled in the hills above old town Bergamo this tiny (9 rooms) Relais boutique hotel pampers with charm, food, and service. The converted rooms are tucked into the beautiful gardens surrounding this little gem. Dinner here is an event with top notch cuisine using local ingredients and sourcing. Compliments to the staff for making this a wonderful experience.

Such a delightful find sitting above the old town by the fort. A wonderful boutique hotel with staff that care and go the extra mile. You can feel the pace of life and stress just disappearing as you enter the courtyard. It has its own restaurant, which has to be experienced during the stay, as well as owning a tremendous pizzeria/restaurant 200 yards away. Both have breathtaking views and delightful food. It’s a great place for a drink and snack even if you are not staying and you will be made to feel most welcome.

Gorgeous room. Shower. Tub. Beams to die for. Bed super comfortable. Views of the surrounding area, unbelievable. Loved every minute. Staff nice. Not a bit pretentious. Nice cocktail menu. Breakfast adequate. Super location. The character and history seems to sink in, relaxes the weary traveller, reminding one not to be too caught up in minor inconveniences that go along with travel. All in all I'm definitely returning to this gem.

The relais is wonderfully positioned above the old town with a 5 minute walk to the funicular whish carries you down to the Old Town, which itself is quite beautiful- typically Italian. We stayed 2 nights in a family suite (we were 3 adults) and the room/bed/shower were very good with character. We ate breakfast one morning in one of the squares in the Old Town, and one morning on the hotel terrace. Another benefit of the Relais is the excellent pizzaria restaurant within walking distance (1 night), and the restaurant of the hotel (1 night). The hotel restaurant was excellent, set in the atmospheric garden, memorable!

First time in Italy and picked this hotel from the internet. It is on the top of the hill overlooking Bergamo. It only has nine rooms, and as it was my wife's significant birthday, chose a room with a small seperate sitting area and a jaw dropping view of the old town and surrounding area. Bedroom and bathroom were large and well equipped.with huge shower. There is a lift from a private parking area to reception and the rooms. Staff were absolutely first class...nothing and I mean nothing was a problem. We had breakfast on the terrace every day and ate a beautiful meal in the hotel's Cucina Restaurant one evening. They also have a Pizzeria a short distance away...better to book if you want a spectacular window viewpoint, as it gets very busy. Access to the old town is via a funiculare railway (3 minute journey) and after walking through the old town a further funicular will take you down to the City itself. All in all, we both loved our stay and would highly reccommend it.

It was our 2nd visit to Begamo & we chose to stay again at The Relais San Vigilio Hotel & we weren’t let down . A wonderful experience . An outstanding hotel in the most wonderful location overlooking the city of Begamo . The hotel is lovely , The food is superb ( Breakfast is amazing served on the patio ) . All the staff go the extra mile to make your stay memorable & just can’t do enough to help you enjoy your stay . A very big thank you to Federica but also Roberta , Maya , Edgar & all the team - fabulous customer service - thank you all so much best wishes Mark & Kim
