Grand Palladium – Honest Review of Our Stay We stayed at the Grand Palladium last week and overall had a good holiday. The excellent staff lifted this review from a 3 to a 4, though for a 5-star resort I personally felt there were a few too many small negatives. Positives Staff: The team really made a difference. Giuseppi was especially kind when my girlfriend was unwell, and Antonio (Lobby Bar Supervisor) was always warm and welcoming. Manfredi D also stood out with his attentive service. At breakfast, Geam Piero prepared omelettes with a smile every morning. Housekeeping: Our room was always spotless and cleaned efficiently to a very high standard. Gardens & Grounds: Beautifully kept, with the gardeners working hard to ensure everything looked tidy and clean. Restaurants: The à la carte restaurants were a highlight — we particularly enjoyed the Thai and the steakhouse. The buffet also offered plenty of choice, and again, the staff were excellent. One tip: book à la cartes early on the app, as slots do fill quickly. Excursions: The day trip to Cefalù was excellent value (€10 return per person) and a lovely way to spend a day away from the resort. Areas for Improvement Upselling: Although the resort is marketed as all-inclusive, there was a constant push for paid upgrades — from certain drinks to activities. This felt unnecessary. Room & Facilities: We paid extra for a pool-view room, but the pool we overlooked (and the nearest bar) were restricted to “signature” guests only. This felt misleading. TV & Entertainment: Very limited TV choice, with only a handful of news channels. Films cost €7 each, and the only alternative was to connect your own device via HDMI. Minibar: Only bottled water was included in the all-inclusive restocking. Soft drinks and beer weren’t replaced, which was disappointing. Reception: Flies were a real nuisance in the reception area, particularly when checking in or ordering drinks. Noise: Soundproofing in the rooms was poor. We could hear our neighbours clearly and felt self-conscious about them overhearing us. Outdoor Areas: Wasps were a constant problem around the pool, bars, and gardens. We suggested to reception that wasp traps might help. Installing UV lights in outdoor areas and balconies could also reduce the number of bugs in the evenings. Final Thoughts This is a beautiful hotel with fantastic staff who go above and beyond, and we had an enjoyable stay. However, the issues mentioned made it feel less than truly 5-star. With a few improvements, it could be outstanding.
