Il Picciolo Etna Golf Resort & Spa

The resort’s grounds are dominated by the bulk of the volcano. The hotel is surrounded by vines, growing on black, gravelly soil. Where the land is uncultivated, blocks of lava protrude from the earth. The 18-hole golf course is immersed in a wood of firs and maritime pines; the greens are impeccable and generously large. Some par 5s request challenging drives. The resort's staff is plentiful, young and professional. The most unexpected surprise was the quality of food and beverage services. Every dinner I had in the hotel restaurant was a pleasant adventure. The restaurant has a sommelier, who guided my apprenticeship. This spot of North-Eastern Sicily is a well-kept secret to be discovered. A casket of jewels which Sicilians have kept to themselves ... until now.

A mediocre hotel at best. It had the feel of a bus tour hotel. I had a terrible experience. My shower didn’t work and the room was noisy. The footsteps from the room above me were very loud. There is no sound proofing between floors. When I asked about changing rooms, they seemed amenable but then refused to change my room There were no amenities in the room. No bathrobes, no vanity make up remover pads, not Qtips…Nothing.

Beautiful property with nice golf course, spa and restaurants. Although there was a last minute change in our reservations, the management made suitable arrangements and gave us some extra perks.

Beautiful hotel. The grounds were clean and the views of Mount Etna were amazing! The pool is clean and the staff was very accommodating. Would definitely stay here again!

The service was very good everywhere. Unfortunately, my room was very noisy and had no view. The food in the restaurant was poor for a 5-star hotel.

A very relaxing stay we had celebrating our 1st year wedding anniversary. The room was spacious and well equipped. Only groan is that we had a huge tv but it did not cater for English channels and the Netflix function was not available. Restaurant service was excellent however, the food at times seemed slightly under cooked. Good breakfast selection but would be better if the bacon and sausages were of better quality. Spa was very modern and enjoyable. Special shout out to Alex who was extremely friendly and helpful at all times! You are very lucky to have him! The only thing I would suggest for improvements is to give new guests a good run down of the facilities and what is available at check in. We felt that we needed to ask a lot about what we can do and what was available to us. I would recommend the hotel and hopefully the advice given would be taken onboard to improve the experience. The golf club is also very friendly with welcoming and helpful staff. The course is very thought and challenging so a good place to test you skills. A very enjoyable stay and the staff certainly made us feel very welcome. Many thanks Mr and Mrs Howse (House for Alex ;))
