Insulae Resort

This is a modern hotel located outside of Cefalu, you need a car to get to Cefalu or use the hotel bikes. The grounds of the hotel are very nicely designed, the surroundings of the hotel are less nice. It has its own private parking. Be sure NOT to follow Google Maps to the hotel but use the provided route instead. It’s modern-designed hotel and it has a luxurious atmosphere. The rooms are all bungalow style with private terraces. It is very quiet at night and the bed is very comfortable. The room is very clean and has all amenities you might need during your stay. Price-quality is a little high for Sicilian standards. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served via a buffet and you can order dishes a la carte (included), refilling the buffet could be better. The pool area is very nice, lots of options to lay in the sun or sit in the shade. It seems to be a trend these days (which we don’t like) but they send quite a lot of WhatsApp’s and asking for your check-in and check-out time! Check-out time is at 10:30 which is quite early during a normal summer holiday. So, a comfortable and beautiful designed hotel outside of Cefalu, with good service for people who have a little more to spend.

Before I start my review, the resort is beautiful with plenty of green and private space around the pool. I would like to acknowledge that the staff, especially those around the pool were friendly and accommodating to our requests. However, there was no mention of the train tracks that run alongside the resort so don’t stay in room 502, as the tracks run along the bedhead! For a 4 star resort I find it unacceptable that you have to pay for a clean pool towel if you want a fresh one. We were there for 4 nights and swam every day so expected to be able to change these over at the end of the day, free of charge. Breakfast was fine but the limited day time menu was challenging. The kitchen was open for limited hours during the day and the distance to town made getting food impossible- the free shuttle service was for 3 return morning services with a 3 hour break before the resumption of the 3 return afternoon services, with the last resort departure at 6.30pm. Taxis to/from the resort into town ranged between €15-20 but it was usually a 30-45min wait at each end. I was so looking forward to staying here but was underwhelmed by the experience.

I definitely recommend. We had a wonderful stay. Staff was friendly and spoke sufficient English. The grounds were absolutely beautiful, as were the views. Rooms were small and just ok- typical for Europe- but the bed was comfortable and everything was clean and modern with a very nice terrace. It is a very short drive to Cefalu but they have a shuttle until early evening.

Great place to chill Insulae Resort's pool, serviced by great bar staff, is the perfect place to completely relax before hitting up beautiful Cefalu for an afternoon stroll or evening meal. It's a 10-minute drive to the centre of Cefalu so you'll need a car or taxi if you're planning to come back late - the hotel's minibus service ends in the early evening. While there is access to the sea 100 metres away, it's a very rocky beach. A second walkable beach option, 400 metres away, is serviced by another resort and was very loud (thumping music). It's worth noting that trains do pass by close to the hotel and there's a concrete factory close by that also produces background noise.

An amazing private resort on a small scale: new, clean, and thought through in every little detail. The premises are aesthetic, good-smelling and feel exclusive. The garden feels like a cosy hideout. Great cocktail bar, both during the day and in the evening, with Salvo and Emanuele not missing a chance to surprise you and make you smile. The fine dining experience at the on-site restaurant “Zayn” is worth a mention, too. A complimentary electric shuttle and EV charging are available, too.

Wonderful newly built boutique hotel. Every friendly staff. High quality cuisin
