If you like to see the world’s worst traffic jam. This is the property for you. I booked one night here in their entry level room and let me tell you, the whole experience was beyond a nightmare. It was hell on earth. The room was the most disappointing. For USD 280 , you wouldn’t believe that the room is as good as an airport motel. There is nothing inside the room that convinces me I’m in a 200 year old historical building. It’s very cheaply done up. I can’t imagine the reason why someone would open an inn here let alone call it a luxury hotel, as others have reviewed, I feel totally the whole thing is a misrepresentation. Also the wifi does not work in the room and the television doesn’t power off regardless of manual or remote switches. Very sus. I wonder if they would come banging on my door asking me to delete my review in exchange for some curry

First, it’s old Delhi and better for it. This is a tourist hotel, not business. But the lucky tourist, mostly Europeans. This is an incredibly well thought out, beautiful old haveli (mansion), now extremely comfortable Indian stay. Rooms are spacious, lovely decorated, large bathrooms with premium toiletries and thoughtful reading ( including, though you should read before your trip- Willie Dalrymple, City of Djinns- your basic preparation). Indian breakfast here are first rate and dinners are not to be missed- outstanding is an insufficient compliment. Extras abound from your personal kite to evening kite flying with charming staff, local terrific musical performances with dinner, rooftop monkeys, always available knowledgeable managerial staff. Its isolation in old Delhi may, at first, be intimidating. Request and follow the hotel’s guidance. Though unfamiliar, the neighborhood is safe- as is the hotel. Tours offered by the hotel are pricey and you might want to independently investigate alternatives. However you will absolutely will benefit from local guidance and insight. Little mentioned by management, note that there are two separate hotel buildings. The main (original) is vastly preferred. Staying in NEW Delhi as an alternative is like staying in Chicago. Highlight of any India visit.
