I stayed just for one night - I was shooting nearby and it seemed a good point in which to stay. Our group included a wheel chair user, a few couples and couple of singles. We all had dinner in one of dining rooms. The food was very well presented, great flavour, all local - a bit rich in tasting for me but that’s a palette thing. Rooms were amazing, huge, clean, well appointed and if your at the front - stunning views. As a former hunting lodge, the location is a key driver. Getting there - yes. Well it’s a bit tight, up some lanes but it is remote (which is half the joy), so if you want direct 2 min access off a motorway - choose a dull corporate hotel.

It’s a nice place and the staff were lovely. The drive up to the hotel is very very narrow… we had heard great things about the hotel and it’s in a beautiful setting. However, we felt we were the youngest couple… at 48… the majority of guests in the lounge had to be in their 70s. There is no pool, sauna etc… you would have thought being in such a remote area that there would have some sort of spa especially after a long hike. The food was “good” but I can’t say it was worth the money…. One day I had a ceaser salad “pretty straight forward” but where was the romaine lettuce? It had little variety pieces of everything else but romaine… to be honest the staff make the hotel they were fantastic… for us I’m afraid we wouldn’t return… it’s to quiet, no spa and the food was good but not phenomenal for the money.

As others have said the service is exceptional, all team members work hard to look after you. Dinner was very nice although not outstanding for the price. Although we don’t often comment on price we were disappointed to see that every time we ordered a drink in the lounge we were charged £5 service. We were encouraged to drink in the lounge rather than the bar by staff. Therefore a bottle of beer which is already a crazy £10.50 becomes £15.50!!!! Wouldn’t stay again for that reason alone.

Tony Bennett left his heart in San Francisco; I left mine at Gidleigh Park Hotel. Wow! The extensive grounds and gardens, the magnificent historic building, the common area rooms, the service....total magic. There is no other hotel experience like it in England or in any other country. I will be back every year. There were so many things that made our stay outstanding. I hope you have the opportunity to discover them.

Gidleigh Park is absolutely stunning, but it’s the people who make it truly special. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with genuine warmth, and every member of staff was friendly, attentive and professional without being stuffy. Dinner was superb, and the thoughtful little touches—like madeira and chocolates in the room, and morning coffee with the day’s paper—made our stay feel extra special. A perfect mix of relaxed luxury and outstanding service. We can’t wait to return!

Beautiful property. Great amenities. Brilliant staff. Wonderful service. Would definitely recommend this place and visit again. So many great touches eg morning tea brought to the room each day to help you feel at home. Only considerations are that the hotel is a bit isolated but we liked that, plus the food may lack variety and the value may be questioned. Overall a lovely experience plus we got lucky with the weather.

We arrived at the hotel 2 hours before checking in. It was on a rainy day. I asked the reception if it was possible to stay inside the hotel. The receptionist told me that it was not possible before 3pm. All right.... we stayed in our car then. Hopefully the rain has stopped. We could walk around in the beautiful countryside of the natural park then. A tour of the hotel has been announced by the receptionist. But we did not have any. We have booked one of the most expensive room of the hotel called 'laughter'... Beautiful and large room with an amazing view. The twin beds were small regarding the room size. The beds were also very soft. Too soft. The diner service was presumptunous. We felt 'encouraged or pushed?' to have more and more drinks. It was insistant. The dîner was good but the portions were tiny especially the starters. Hopefully bread and butter were both amazing. We could have extra. Breakfast was great. Here is the experience of two ladies who are not English native speakers. So sorry for the language mistakes in my review :-)

We had a 2 night stay with Dinner Bed and Breakfast to celebrate my birthday. Firstly, I recommend you take note of arrival directions as we didn’t and followed the satnav and it was a long, very narrow drive up to the hotel. We should have gone into Chagford and then it’s only a couple of miles on narrow lanes. We were met at the door, and car parked, bags taken to our room. Had lunch in the drawing room overlooking the beautiful garden. Despite, the rain, we had a lovely walk around the grounds and along the river. We stayed in their Classic room, (Roos) which was on top floor overlooking the garden and river. It did get a bit hot up there, but the window opened and a fan was present in the room. Very comfortable and lovely big bathroom with large walking shower . Drinks in the bar before a lovely dinner. Exquisitely presented 3 course dinner but tiny portions. Restaurant was very formal and quiet……Drinks and wine very pricey. Breakfast was made to order and served to your table. The staff were all very efficient and professional, Nearby Chagford was a delightful little village to visit as well as the near by National Trust Castle Drogo. All in all, A beautiful but expensive experience.
