Dining: The Stove restaurant is praised for its great breakfast and evening dining options, with dishes presented well and gluten-free and vegan options available. Guests also appreciate nearby pubs like Wainwrights for bar meals and drinks.

Pricey for the experience - room comfortable but pricey for the night, restaurant food just 'ok' (lots of young staff and no real supercision) pool facilities looking tired - however, massage in the Spa was v good. Unlikley to stay again.

Just returned from our stay at the langdale hotel, and had a lovely time. We booked the down and spa which was good value. The room was nice, and all seemed well located for spa and restaurant. The spa was lovely, and not too many people! The treatments were worth it and therapists were great. The only issue was the pool was less than luke warm so not very comfortable to stay in for long at all unfortunately. The evening meal was nice at the restaurant as part of the deal, though it was quite slow to arrive. Breakfast was very good, and a great choice. We went down as soon as it opened at 8am so plenty of choice. We will definitely be back, probably in the summer to do one of the many walks in the area! The package was great value for money, would recommend!

Just back from a 2 night stay, we had an amazing room overlooking the river and the sound of rushing water was beautiful, room clean and warm with everything you’d need. Spa and pool very relaxing. Had dinner one evening in the pub which was delicious and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. Dinner in Stoves next evening again delicious with good choice, Joe behind the bar very helpful, breakfast is exceptional, everything you can imagine is there and if you need anything just ask, Maps are supplied for walks around the area. We loved our stay and can say that the staff here are so friendly and can’t do enough to make sure your stay is perfect.

Having driven past the hotel many times I thought I would treat myself to a stay in one of the self catering timeshare lodges. Whilst the setting is principally pleasant and the leisure facilities outstanding, the lodges themselves fall very short of 4 star expectations. They’re dated and in desperate need of modernisation but more to the point the standard of cleanliness is appalling! It may seem clean on the surface with shiny taps and a clean shower screen but you don’t need to look any further or harder to see filthy appliances, doors and door handles, light switches, shower walls, indeed any surface. With any attempts to modernise the properties appearing minimal. The 80s was 45 years ago - I felt old just being inside. I am classed as clinically vulnerable to cleanliness is important to me. I did complain about the standards and management were very responsive, sending out a cleaner the next day but again, it was a disappointing surface clean. It was in desperate need of a deep clean with years of grime on the doors and door handles. In the end I came home early. Utterly depressed and disappointed. There are much better options for self catering accommodation nearby that were a lot cheaper. I did manage to get a 10% refund for my shortened stay but as I know, having a terminal illness, time is precious and I can’t get that holiday time back. I feel sad even thinking about it but I want others to know that they too may end up feeling utterly disappointed. I would suggest staying elsewhere.

We were welcomed by a lovely receptionist ! Very smiley and kind! The spa facility is great ! Rooms are very quiet ! Bed is very comfy! I was really disappointed with the food ! The breakfast was very average and so was the room service offered!

After a lovely stay back in 2023, we returned in October 2025. Unfortunately this time the food / restaurant let out stay down. The spa and our waterside room was beautiful. However, the food at the Stove restaurant was not piping hot, the service was extremely slow during our meal and waiting for our next course, and my dessert was forgotten about. We were really disappointed and something has definitely changed since 2023 either chefs/ management which is such a shame. This is not what you expect for a £500+ per night stay and will definitely put us off from returning if this is not addressed. Lovely room and spa was great but the restaurant needs improvement! Thanks Chloe

Such an idyllic location, with incredibly helpful staff and a wonderful attention to detail. We stayed in a Waterside Room…sited perfectly with the roaring river passing by our balcony. It was clean, warm and luxurious. The Spa was wonderful, the deli platters were delicious, the breakfast in the Stove was outstanding….essentially the whole experience far exceeded our expectations. We will most definitely be returning to this wonderful spot in the heart of the Lake District, and would definitely recommend this as the perfect location for a romantic getaway.
