Excellent hotel with plush amenities. Huge rooms and walking distance to everything you want to do in Charleston. Home to one of the country’s best restaurants as well Peninsula Grill.

Loved the historic charm of this property. It is well maintained. Room was spacious, clean, comfortable. Perfect location with easy access to walk to restaurants and shops. We never got the car out once we arrived because we were so close to all the attractions. If I had one tip to offer, maybe don’t arrive around 4:30/5:00 like we did because the traffic was bad and it’s hard to find a spot to leave the car while checking in.

We hosted a Rehearsal Dinner and Welcome Party at the Planters Inn as part of our son/daughter-in-law's wedding weekend. It was a 5 star experience from start to finish! Abby was our planning coordinator for the evening and she was great with communications and offered great ideas and suggestions throughout the process. Chris was our Head of Staff for the evening and he was absolutely amazing. He kept us calm and assured us that he would do everything needed to create an incredible evening for us and the bride and groom - and he did! He was calm, focused, professional and had an incredible eye for detail - just what you would want for such a special night. Chris went over the timing of everything and was subtle with his timing cues to us, and kept us to our schedule throughout the dinner so that we were finished in time to welcome our additional guests to the Welcome Party. I would also like to commend the quality of the food for our Rehearsal Dinner and the passed appetizers at the Welcome Party. Everything was absolutely delicious and we received numerous compliments. Our bride and groom chose the Planters Inn specialty coconut cake for dessert and I now understand why it is world famous. Our sincere and heartfelt compliments to the chef and staff at the Peninsula Grill and Planters Inn for a delicious evening. We used the private dining room for our dinner and adjacent outdoor courtyard for the Welcome Party. Everything looked beautiful!! Our evening was not inexpensive, but we absolutely felt it was worth the cost.

The location was excellent, directly across the street from the City Market. It is a quaint historic inn. The sitting room has free coffee, tea & ice water available all day. The room was comfortable enough but the TV was a cheap brand & wonky. Since our 1st day in Charleston was cold & rainy we would have like to watch some tv as there wasn’t much else to do. The staff is friendly & courteous. There is a bar & restaurant on premises where you can get a good meal though pricey. The room we had was fairly quiet, but was right next to the housekeeping room. Would recommend the Plantars Inn definitely due to the location.

Older hotel...it is showing some wear....but a fantastic stay. Close to everything..restaurant is great. So much to do in the area....walable.
