Cowley Manor Experimental

Great experience overall. Amazing pool and scenery

We stayed, for the first time, in the Costwolds. We were looking for a small luxury Manor with a SPA to spend some days to relax and to yo discover the Costwolds. Location: 5/5 For us perfect, 1,5h from Heathrow you arrive at the beautiful und luxury location of Cowley, where the Cowley Manor Experimental is located since a bit over two years. The surroundings of the hotel are stunning, a huge and very beautiful park with several ponds with swans, horses nearby in a perfect British style. Great to walk around several hours in these beautiful landscape. We also loved that beautiful villages such as Cirencester or Bibury can be easily reached within 15-20 minutes driving. Property and installation: 5/5 The manor is several hundred years old, from the inside it’s completely restored with a chic and elegant 60/70 years vibe, that we loved! A perfect contrast to the old Manor and the beautiful English landscape. The SPA, just a 2 minute walk from the main building is more than enough for the size of the property with a nice indoor and outside pool, sauna and steam room. Rooms: 5/5 We stayed at the Waterlilly room in the top floor. The room was way bigger than we thought, with a huge bath and an incredible view to the hotel park and the main pond where we could see the swans every morning. The style of 60/70 is perfectly integrated also in the rooms, we loved it! Food & Restaurants: 3.5/5 We had dinner in the restaurant, also here the style is fantastic, as written before, the complete concept is marvelous, unique! A great mix of chic, elegant but also crazy and warm. The dinner was pretty nice, I would give it a 4/5. Small menu, but pretty taste dishes and a good wine selection. Nice service and a cool vibe. Regarding breakfast there is definitely a lack to be a 5 star property. The buffet is ok, nothing special … a la cart menu the same, small and nothing special and regular taste. For a 5 star property I would not expect to get coffee or tea out of two huge containers. I would rate it 3/5 The bar in the opposite is fantastic, great drinks! Service: 4/5 In overall very nice and friendly service! Still room for improvement, for example upon arrival no one was at the reception. We arrived by car, dropped our baggage of and entered the reception when the first employee approached to make the check in. I felt that probably there was not enough staff around. It’s small things, because the people working there are really friendly and helpful but probably sometimes not enough or we had a bit of bad luck in our timings. I would definitely recommend Cowley Manor Experimental! Great location to discover the Costwolds and to relax, great rooms, nice park, cool bar and several good dining options close by!
