The service was not great for an expensive luxury resort

Photos do not do this beautiful place justice. Our apartment was enormous and felt so luxurious with breathtaking views over one of the lakes. The estate itself is a huge and we spent a good hour cycling around and exploring all the other lakes. My 4 year old daughter and her best friend enjoyed the farm animals, the playground, as well as the indoor swimming pool. The food, coffee and cocktails were exceptional, the service was fantastic. I can only imagine it being even more incredible during the summer months and we can’t wait to visit again. Everything is so modern and clean, the beds were so comfortable and the grounds and facilities are clearly well looked after it really was a gorgeous couple of days away from the hustle and bustle of London exploring the beautiful countryside.

The location is probably the very best part of the Lakes - you feel like you’ve been transported to Switzerland or maybe Scandinavia. Every vista is beautiful and you immediately feel like you’ve walked into a natural sanctuary. The rooms are immaculately clean and so comfortable. It’s much more modern than the typical Cotswolds image - there’s no chintz or inglenook fireplaces, so if you’re really looking for the quintessential cosy cottage style, you’ll need to look elsewhere. Instead, you get plenty of space, seamfree convenience, a kitchen, and incredible amenities like the beautiful pool and gym. We also really enjoyed the food at the restaurant, again right on the doorstep. We visited without our kids but really want to go back as it’s such a special place for families.

Fantastic stay at The Lakes, we stayed at Bowmoor retreat which is privately owned. Booked via Lakes, very easy. House its self was out of this world, designed to a beautiful elegant yet family themed taste. Everything you could have wanted in the house in every room. Fully kitted kitchen, office space, bikes, kayaks. The lot! Including a bottle from the very kind owners. Activities on site run by Matt - again very kind and friendly. We done archery, shooting, climbing and bush craft. Wide range of kids. 5 stars all round

The perfect place to unwind in a luxury retreat. The most amazing views, food, overall facilities, room, spa, staff, everything - and so much to do! Absolutely 10/10, will definitely come back and bring the whole family and rent a canoe, hire bikes etc! Still in awe at how beautiful our room was, they really have thought of everything - even leaving us a freshly baked sourdough loaf and some jam was a lovely touch! We didn't want to leave - we could honestly live here! Also loved visiting the onsite farm and exploring the beautiful grounds. Haven't stopped thinking about this place since

We booked for a 3 day stay. The class of accommodation was excellent and facilities good. However the reason for the poor rating was the terrible experience we had at their restaurant. It was meant to be a celebratory dinner for the family but was without doubt one the worst culinary experiences I have had in a long time. I paste below the review I wrote for them as a warning to future bookers to give it a wide berth and pre book one of the many excellent restaurant is the area. "Unfortunately one of the most disappointing dinners I have had in a long time. On arrival at 7.30 pm at our allocated time, we were met and told a list of 3 of 8 main courses had sold out, fish chicken and ham and 2 of the starters. How can this happen at such a top establishment. We were left with limited choice of which most of us did not want. Next we were told there would be a wait as everyone had turned up at same time - why? Thats why you have booking times and phase the strain on the kitchen. We then waited over 1 hr for the mains. Finally the quality of food was very poor. The turkey leg was like a piece of leather the venison so dry I had to ask for some turkey gravy to at least bring some moisture and finally the food was lukewarm warm at best. The staff were very apologetic and no fault of theirs. £235 pounds badly spent and will be writing a google review to tell future bookers to take a swerve on your restaurant and book one of the many other good restaurants in the area. Really so very very disappointed and was a real low point in otherwise an enjoyable stay."
