Hôtel Valdys Thalasso & Spa - la Baie

Very nice hotel and will go again if we will be in the town.

Although overlooking the beach and the beautiful bay, the hotel is slighted dated and the surrounding area lacks charm. Parking is not available within the grounds but 50metres away, on foot, and round the block by car! Not quite 4 stars! Bedroom overlooking the bay was better than than expected, spacious enough but balcony was not private. Dinner was a catastrophe : We were advised to book an early table as the hotel was busy as most guests were on half board. Menu very basic , wine list not really inspiring but still pricey, staff seemed to be running around , some staff had no idea whom to serve, all this as guests sat down at the beginning of the evening ! It soon looked as staff and restaurant manager were not coping and were running around like headless chicken. It got from bad to worse as it became more and more apparent that the kitchen and all the waiters/waitresses could not manage the situation. We left after the first course, most disappointing in quality and presentation, having waited for around 45 minutes for the main…. We spoke with the hotel manager the following morning whose only excuse was that he couldn’t get the staff! We appreciated that things do sometimes go wrong but warnings should have been given when we inquired about booking a meal in the restaurant. Reception did not do their job , did not inform us, did not communicate ,which in the service industry is paramount. Sadly, communication was not high on the hotel priority list : the hotel manager was not really in charge of the situation, blaming external factors instead of accepting responsibility and accountability for what was going on. Experience not be repeated ! I was there for business purposes , so no vacations, iwas not on the hotel, rooms clean and the stay was very quiet and good

Wonderful view from our room located on the top floor of the hotel. We had the opportunity to bathe in the sea salt swimming pool and benefit from the hammam and sauna. Very well located with a direct access to the beach.
