Lusty BEG Island

This was our second time in lusty beg, we stayed in September 2024 and in terms of cleanliness it has improved. We came back this time with friends and we had a shared joint 30th birthday in our group, which was highlighted on both of our bookings when made, there was no acknowledgement of this at all, even though I see from some reviews some people have gotten chocolates left in their rooms, and I also outlined in our booking we were return customers. There were glasses in the room but no bottled water, I did inform them of this on check out and was told the tap water ((from the bathroom sink)) was drinkable ((EW!)). The waitress that was taking our drinks and food order was so lovely, 10/10 for how great she was, I don’t get her name but she said she’s only worked there for 2/3 months. Food was good. Bar closes very early at 12. Night porter was very rude, there were a number of of guests having a good time and we were all having a great laugh, he was very abrupt in telling us to get to bed - we are grown adults not kids. He might want to change his attitude slightly at the end of the day we are paying guests, he’s a night porter - it’s his job.

This is NOT A SPA HOTEL. There are no spa facilities as one would expect. No sauna, jacuzzi or steam room. There is a pool that closes at 6pm despite being informed on checkin it is 7pm, which is already a ridiculous time for a hotel where you stay overnight but can’t check in until 3pm, if you want to use the pool which we could do as it was 5:45pm and closed! What makes them be misidentifying as a spa hotel is they have a beauty and wellness therapy facility on site. You can pay to have your nails done as an example. This is not what anyone would expect from a “Spa Hotel”, you would expect spa facilities. Don’t waste your money and go to a spa hotel where there are actual spa facilities. I was not the only one either, when we tried to enter the swimming pool there was a queue of people asking where the spa facilities where in the “Island Spa” block. Just don’t bother. It’s not what it’s claiming it is this place.

Very family friendly . Recently went to the pumpkin patch at LustyBeg, it was really well run and the kids loved it (so did we) hopefully they do something for Christmas.

I booked to stay at the Lusty Beg cabins to celebrate my 50th birthday and our 20th wedding anniversary only to be left let down and extremely disappointed. The cabin, to use a Northern Irish term was bogging! Cobwebs everywhere, floor not cleaned for weeks and cracks in the bathroom tiles that you could reminisce of the Grand Canyon. When we had our meal I was accused of telling lies by the manager. The problem with this hotel is that it is run by employees that are young, completely inexperienced, lack customer service and decorum. My wife emailed the manager directly and as I type, he has not even had the decency to acknowledge her email. Really let down on such a significant time in both our lives. Never again. My advice, do yourself a favour drive a further four miles down the road to Rossharbour. You won’t be disappointed.

Well we’re do I start . On arrival we checked in were given ours rooms x2 . We had booked for Sunday lunch so went straight to the restaurant. After a lovely meal we went to the rooms which were Located in the courtyard. Rooms looked fine and cosy on first look . Then we noticed dirty sheet hanging from one of the beds on investigation the mattress and bed clothes were saturated someone had a big accident and didn’t let on. How the housekeeper missed it I will never know. We were moved to the cabins which was fine but you would think they would have offered to assist us but no . We had a wheelchair user and the first rooms were on the 1 st floor so everything had to come back down the stairs loaded back into the car and drive to the new cabin . No staff in sight. Very disappointed and overall the cleanliness could do with attention place is a little run down to say the least . Will not be returning

We stayed in room 17 one of the Courtyard rooms, was a good size large bed but with a terrible Mattress very soft did not get good sleep. Room was also very hot, but i managed to open a window, would have hated to have stayed there in the very hot weather. I burnt myself on the towel rail in the bathroom, accidentally touched it with my arm, nearly took the skin off it was so hot. Had large shower, with a rain shower, i like a rain shower but one with a hand held shower attached. The windows could do with being stripped down and painted. Staff were great and the food was very very good, my wife used the pool and had her nails done. Were lucky to have two sunny days, lovely grounds lots to do, i would have liked to do some fishing. Some table's out side these rooms would be good,would have been nice to sit outside and enjoy the sun.
