We buy 5 day vouchers in November and March, once to come as a couple and once with a large group of friends, mostly in their 80s. We’re already planning our 2026 visits! The only problem we encountered was at check-in when a voucher was not found despite the fact that it had been emailed in advance to the hotel. So admin needs some attention. The hotel itself is five star. Wonderful food, delightful food and beverage staff, comfortable rooms and so many activities on offer. Thank you - and see you in 2026!

After long drive along gravel roads we reached the spectacular location surrounded by mountains. Buffet food was plentiful and varied. Enjoyed the cakes mid morning and mid afternoon after walking in the hills. Guided walk to see the local rock paintings and plant life was interesting. The pool was too cold during our stay but very attractive place to chill out in the sunshine, where we enjoyed seeing the antelope and birdlife. Whilst we were out walking we returned to discover possibly baboons had stolen fruit from our bedroom so best lock the glass even when bars at windows.

The best rooms feel cozy and rustic rather than sleek, which suits the mountain setting well, though guests expecting a contemporary boutique experience might find the styling dated. Small touches like heated towel rails, stocked mini-fridges, and tea and coffee stations add comfort, while some inter-leading rooms make it convenient for families. Accessibility can be an issue in certain areas, as the property’s hillside layout means steps and slopes are unavoidable. Dining is one of Cathedral Peak Hotel’s strongest assets. The main dining room, with its pressed ceilings and panoramic windows, delivers a nostalgic, lodge-like atmosphere, and the food generally lives up to its reputation. The hotel runs on a full-board basis, serving generous buffet spreads at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Mornings begin with a classic spread of fruits, cereals, pastries, and hot dishes; lunch and dinner feature roasts, curries, soups, and decadent desserts. There’s a warmth to the dining experience that matches the environment — hearty food that fits mountain living. Afternoon teas with home-baked cakes served on the terrace are a lovely touch. While most guests rave about the quality and variety, a few note that certain dishes can be inconsistent, especially during busy weekends. It was wonderful to visit Cathedral Peak once again. I can call it 'My Happy Place'. Walking to the lounge at mealtime, enjoying a scrumptious meal, without lifting a finger, is pure bliss. My husband and I, discover a new walking trail every time we visit. I have an app on my phone that identifies plants, which makes it even more interesting. Then there is Gerry and Mousie! They are the best mascots and never a nuisance. It is a highlight to find them there every time we visit. We love chatting with Michele; she is very knowledgeable and even kept the gifts we wanted to buy aside for us, as the internet was offline. I am sure she is one of your prized personnel. The only drawback to our visit is the increasing rust on the pressed ceiling in the dining room. I really hope you will renovate it, as a modern ceiling is not suitable for this beautiful building. My coffee shop has the same ceilings, which I had renovated. I am sure the contractor will be more than willing to assist you. We look forward to our next visit!
