So, i booked via Trip.com for my parents and realised i can only reserve and not pay in full, so as soon as I reserved, I put in cancellation and was told it will be done in couple business days and then I proceeded with booking via a different site that let me pay in full. Fast forward, trip.com says the hotel didn't reply on the cancellation and when my parents went to stay, the hotel staff mentioned that they have to pay for the room booked via trip.com. I had sent a cancellation request directly to the hotel as well. Just a cheap way to make money. Disappointing both trip.com and the hotel staff.

Althou the property was nice to live in but the food was horrible. Ordered rotis and pranthas and wasnt cooked properly.

Cheatue Garli is an excellent ,beautiful heritage property in the heritage village Garli ,Kangra Himachal Pradesh. very well located if touring Kangra district or visiting your roots.
Staff is very polite and helpful
food is also excellent. we had a small family union of 10 ppl & Chef happily made a couple of very typical Himachali dishies we asked for..would reccomend this place for sure & would love to visit again

Had an absolutely amazing weekend at the Chateau. It's in a serene, tranquil and as yet more or less undiscovered village in Himachal. The staff is super helpful. Do the heritage walk with them to discover the village.

Stayed there for a night, the host was gracious enough to upgrade our room.
Rooms are spacious with a retro look.

I spent one night at this hotel and have to admit that I didn't quite get it. It is a little weird. Old dark wooden furniture in the rooms and panels of coloured glass. There was even a swimming pool which seemed out of place, sadly the weather was not warm enough to use it. Here, the location is in the countryside and the birdsong is loud. We saw very few people whilst we were here, just our group of 5 were offered dinner around the pool. Very quiet. In the morning we were allowed into the building for breakfast which was very much worth seeing. The inside was beautifully decoarated in a traditional style. Our Guide took us on a walk away from the town and down a country road to see a school and two more Haveli. We then took ourselves off to look around Garli which was full of little shops and interesting old buildings. I bought a scarf from a tiny little shop and was happy to pay the asking price of 500 rupees. The lady in the hotel said I should have been able to get if for 300 rupees! And pulled a face. So beware, although it seems like an out of touch corner of the world they must get their far share of tourists.

This hotel positions itself as quirky when in fact the owner simply needs to invest in some of the basics for cleanliness, maintenance and repairs. Thankfully it is not too expensive so presents fair value but the rooms and facilities are extremely tired and worn.
